(If this is a duplicate to a post someone else did I apologize. I searched the site for 5 minutes and did not get any results, but find it hard to believe no one has posted anything on this yet) A child in India has performed a caesarean section under his parent (who are both doctors) supervision. Here is the article:http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,285353,00.html What were these people thinking? This child has no formal training. Based on what they have stated, they could have trained a monkey to perform the procedure. I understand they were present, but what if something had gone wrong? I don't think a child could handle that situation on an emotional or mental level. I would love to hear the womans side of this. Could you imagine needing the surgery and having a child with no training walk in to perform it! I would be ticked off if this happened to me. What do you think should be done? Should the child be punished as well as the parent? What about the hospital as it appears they have no clue who is performing procedures in their hospital?

I usually agree with you, but on this one there is a gray area. Although I have not read the article, And no I don't believe every child should start trying to use a scalpel. But you have children saving lives on a regular basis, and I am not talking about calling 911. Children do many things. Remember that our society usually gives children no credit, but there was a time when they did our mining and many other things. So I believe it is the maturity of the child and the willingness of the patient.

This is ridiculous & selfish. Just because the Father wanted his son's name in the guniess book of records, doesn't mean he risks someone elses life to do so. Two lives in fact, mOther & baby. I don't see how the Father got away with it happening at all? Were there not other medical staff around, nurses perhaps? I hope the Father goes up on criminal charges & is sufficiently punished. He should be deregistered as a Doctor too.
