Our family was at the funeral home with out deceased son. My husband and I were up there from the time that they opened to the time that they closed and usually we were there an hour after they closed.
The first night was the hardest because I didn't want to leave Gaje alone by himself up there.
At the viewing, Gaje's real mother and her family was there along with my family and my husband's family.
My family was waiting in the lobby until I called them in there.
When I called them in there, I was stroking Gaje's hair like I always did and kissing him on the forehead. My family was crying and holding his hand.
Gaje's real mother's Grandma, started yelling at me in the funeral home telling me not to touch him. She was yelling that I was evil and for me to stay away from him.
I turned around and asked my sister who she was talking too. She told me tht she was talking to me. I told my husband, who was in the bathroom, about it later. He asked his mother for advice and she said it was against the Kiowa tribe(which is what they are) it was against their religion.
I told him that this was not true because their entire family was touching him.
I was told by my mother in law, to respect their wishes and not to do it in front of them.
I didn't understand why this only applied to my family and not theirs. If they are going to claim religion on one thing than why not do it 100% and not for just certain people?
Please explain this too me.
