Will Beckham get football (soccer) more recognised in the States?

As we know soccer isnt as big in the USA as it is in most other places apart from south america where obviously theyre mad about the beautiful game, but David Beckham is now off to Los Angeles to play for the La Galaxy hoping to bring "soccer" more into the spotlight and try make it a bigger sport over there, do you think he will succeed, personally i dont think it will ever be as big as baseball or american football or basketball but what do you think?
