Have you ever been to a Summer Solstice parade or other celebration? I haven't, but I am planning a trip for this weekend to Santa Barbara, California. On the calendar of events for the town is a Summer Solstice parade and fesitval. It has been an annual event since back in the 70s. I am not sure what all will be taking place but I am very excited to experience something new. Do you or does you culture do anything to celebrate the solstices?

I have never been to a Summer Solstice celebration but would love to. Would you believe here in New Orleans they don't have one. Kinda crazy since they celebrate everything else, but I guess there are too many Catholics around to allow such a thing.

That IS surprising. New Orleanians find any reason for a party don't they? I grew up on the MS. gulf coast not far from there.

Here in Spain there are not explicit celebrations about Solstices, but as with many others, certain old time pagan celebrations concerning solstices and other things were absorbed by catholic culture, and put religious celebrations in which used to be pagan rites. Some of them are related to solstices, but cannot tell you which ones exactly.
