To bleach or not to bleach.

To bleach or not to bleach that is the question. My daughter received a very pretty shirt from a friend of mine. And well my problem is the shirt if off white and has a large juice stain on it. And I was wondering if it would be OK to bleach this shirt or if it will ruin the shirt? I thought about using a stain remover but at the moment I do not have any left. And dont have the time or money to go get some. So does anyone know if the shirt can be bleached or not? Thank you in advance.

I have found 2 wonderful cleaners. Shaving creme and dish washer powder. Both are great and I use them often on things I can not get out. What ever you do, test it on a seam or other unseen section of the shirt. Shaving creme used to clean a mirror in the bathroom will keep it from fogging up, and is great on upholstery!

I've never bleached anything. Personally if your careful I wouldn't see any harm, although it depends if you weaken it and how you do it but I'm sure it's probably safe enough :) ~Joey

It's off white? I don't bleach anything that isn't white- only white- I'd soak the shirt in hot water and laundry soap- scrub the stain- It's very hard to get juice out of a shirt- If that doesn't work- try bleaching it- just don't dry in between- Good luck- I'm sorry to say it might not come out at all.

Here's my philosophy when it comes to these tricky situations.... Could you ruin the shirt by bleaching it? -POSSIBLY Is the shirt already ruined with a big juice stain? -YES So what do you have to lose? You might as well try to save it, it's not like there is really such a thing as "ruined worse". If in the end it still has a big stain, try tie-dying it. It will hide the stain or at least make it look intentional!

Do you have vinegar at home (those clear ones). Try putting a teaspoon on the stain and scrub after 10 minute. It will work if this happen in the same day.

Try dish soap. It really can work for alot of stains, just put some dish soap on th stain, run it in, and then put the shirt in the wash as you usually would. It doesn't for 100% of the time but it does work alot and it can't hurt the shirt the way bleach could.
