Do you wear an apron just like your mother and grandmother did when they cooked? I do occasionally when I am doing something oily or greasy. What about you? I have a Christmas one that is so fun! Wish I had more.

i dont wear an apron but I probably should since i'm a messy cook. My shirts are always a mess. my grandma always wore her apron inside out so that if company came she could flip it around and it would still be clean.

I have never had an apron, and I don't remembre seeing my mother or grandmother wear one either =) Maybe because they weren't big cooks or something...I don't know. I always see people wearing them on TV but I have never known anyone that wears them. I think it would be fun to get one and then get some little ones for my kids for when we make cookies and sweets =)

I have one for my granddaughter who is two. We use it when we bake cookies.....she loves to do the sprinkles..but she is about the only thing that is clean in my kitchen when she is done decorating!

How sweet!! My kids are two and six and they have to help whenever I make anything, so the kitchen is always a mess after we cook together!! But the memories are so worth having to clean up a mess!!!

I've never worn an apron while cooking, and come to think of it, my grandmother or mother has never worn an apron while cooking either. They can be handy tools to have around when cooking I'm sure, but it's certainly not something that I'm really interested in doing, simply because I feel they get in the way. It's just another thing in the way that you have to deal with when moving about the kitchen and making food.

I dont remember my granmom wearing it all the time. actually she was having servants for that and when she use to cook i in my faded memory, dont remember seeing her wearing any apron. my mom wears it and i too make it a point to wear it. i am having three aprons. when i am in kitchen , my hubby is most of the time around helping me. so i make it a point to tie an apron around his waist or hang it around his neck. he always makes a BIG BIG MESS of his clothes when he is in kitchen and it so difficult to wash those then. he is having a habbit of wipping his hands always on his butts. so that portion of his shorts is so bad, and so colourful, that one cant stabd by, because it smells. i have to take special cre of him than anybody when he is inside.

Hi. I only wear an apron when Im making bread, because I always seem to make a mess of my clothes without it... Once the breads done, off goes the apron...

I always can't remember to put on the apron when i suppose to ,i mean when i'm frying fish . Most of the time i get hurt because the oil splashing all over the place. I think if i put the apron i might feel uncomfortable with something hanging around my neck.:)

My Grandma never cooked, she had staff to do it for her. My mom eats out all the time. So I didn't have a good example to learn from. But I do most of the cooking in my house. When I cook I like to tuck a hand towel in my waist, kind of like a quarterback does for playing football in the U.S. I do have one, it resembles a woman in her underwear, but you won't catch me in it. Peace, Totty

That's a good idea though so you have something to wipe your hands on! Thanks for sharing.

I have a full body apron that I use occasionally. I will use it mostly if I am dressed up. Otherwise, I figure that my everyday clothes will wash up easy. I just forget to put it on.

Yes I think on a day to day basis you don't really need one......It's when you want to protect yourself that it's necessary.
