OK, I heard that statement today from very nice woman. She said: “TV was my babysitter!” When thinking about my childhood, I am glad that parents new how to put limits on my TV time. I couldn’t watch more than 30 minutes per day and up to one movie on Sunday. And now we have new babysitter, computer and computer games. Do you let TV or computer to “baby-sit” you kids?

Absolutely true and right. I have two kids...and TV, computer and to some extend mobile phones work for them as 'baby sittter' because we both are a working couple and ours is a nuclear family. I firmly believe that we we are not at home....and kids are indulging in TV and computer...instead of roaming outstide....perhaps it is better and safer. deepak

No, a TV or computer is not a babysitter for my kids. The only time I would ever consider that is if I am sick and just cannot care for them for a day (other than absolute necessities). No wonder kids are lazy and out of shape, if all they are doing is sitting in front of a TV all day.

I am raised the same when i was a kid. All i remember is that i'm always busy at school and household chores. We're trained to be busy helping my mom at home. So tv is not the first priority. And im thankful on them. Right now, i have a kid who finds tv a part of her life which i definitely hate. Maybe because both of us (parent) are working. What i did, i buy her educational cds instead so she won't be tempted to watch unnecessary things. And during school vacations, i enroll her to some kids program to keep her busy.

I am not married, and i do not have children. But i can tell you that the tv is not going to play a large part in my future child's life. It did not play a big part in my life. I know that my parents were similiar to yours, when it came to the tv catagory. We as children were given alote of choices on how to spend our day, and the tv was never our first one.

TV was my Baby Sitter for years and years. When I was small, my mother was too busy, all I remember is TV and movies.

It is little sad, but I think that maybe it didn't have bad impact on your life...
