Maybe I misunderstood something at some point, but what does that little star above people's name mean? Is it like some kind of system to show that the person responds well or something?Any kind of information would be greatly appreciated.

It's just a reflection of what some people think of you. It is not really accurate so don't let it bother you that much. Don't drop till reputation of 0 (starless) though for in that case, you will not receive any earnings. I have some FAQs on my profile page that you might find helpful. Cheers.

There must be a reason if so many people keep giving you minuses. I have seen those having low reputation like yours (I know you are having a 3 now but don't feel too sad. When I first joined, I got a 2 on my 100th post so that's worse than yours) but they don't all deserve it. I have seen those with low reputation giving very quality posts. And I have seen those with nice stars displaying pathetic quality. The whole reputation is just a nice toy if you get the star you think you deserve. :P But my point is, the very few I saw who got reputation of 0 deserve it. So there.

Star - Mylot Reputation
Dear RictoheWolf You have understood it well -- the star is the reputation of a member and it also shows how the member is responding to the discussions .. the higher the number ... the higher the reputation .. I used to get increase in my star number by getting best responses .. but when I get{-} my star count simply goes down.. so it's not easy to maintain a star count. Sometimes some jealous members gives us{-} and our star count gets decreased.. So it's just a game of{+} and{-} .

Well I think you pretty much understand how the rating system works by now with it reflecting the quality of your posts based on what other myLotters think and rate them as. If you have a low star (and you do) don't feel too bad about, their can be some mean people out there that might get jealous of your posts for any reason and give you a - but you can't let this get you down. I am glad that I started with a 9 on my 100th post but I don't think too much about a person by their star, in fact I usually look at the number of posts and picture :-P hehe. I have to tell you that I rated every post and discussion that I read with a + unless of course they are spamming. The rating is nto to be given due to the persons opinions but instead due to the way they present their opinions. If a person does not agree with you, you can't just give them a -. But if a person insults you or posts something rude then you may rate them -. This is why I rate everyone + :-P Good luck! Rated +.
