Renewing Marriage Vows

Every time my husband and I go to a wedding, we start talking about renewing our vows. Actually having a wedding since we didn't have one when we did get married. We got married by the Justice of the Peace and then went out to dinner. Through the years, we have had a lot of problems, and really hurt each other at times, but we made it through and we will be married ten years in November. Some call it a miracle, lol. I think renewing our vows in an actual wedding ceremony would be so nice, but it probably won't happen due to the expense. I would love to have something with all my family and friends to celebrate with us. Maybe it's a silly idea, what do you all think? We are both in our forties, and it's a second marriage for both of us. If we did it, I wouldn't want a big fancy wedding, something simple and casual.

I would not mind having one. We were married by the Marriage Commissioner (Canada's answer to the Justice of the Peace) and I felt rather upset because my church at the time did not allow church weddings. I always envied those who would walk down the aisle in a white gown. I gained quite a lot since then, though, and it would be hard to lose that eighty pounds.

Weddings can be ridiculously expensive. My wife and i had a simple ceremony like yours. I still insist it doesn't matter because we had a wedding to be married, rather than get married to have a wedding. The one thing we regretted was not taking advantage of the free (yes, FREE) weddings offered by many vacation resorts in the carribean. It may not be what you want, but I hope to go again one year for our anniversary and renew our vows.
