Cats should almost never need a bath. Unless they have a skin disorder that required treatment, or if they are infested with fleas, tick or are very dirty.- Giving a cat a bath too often can cause excessive drying of the skin because it removes essential oils that are on the skin. Ever notice that cats area always licking themselves? It is because they clean themselves several hours a day, every day. Again unless your cat gets into something smelly, he will not have an odar.

I give my cats a bath once a year in the summertime. They hate it, but they have a habit of getting sick in June or July every year, and end up with really oily and dandruffy fur/skin. Brushing doesn't help, so they get a bath about a week after they get better.

I give my 2 cats one bath a year, in the late spring when they are shedding really bad. It helps take out a bunch of the old hair so they aren't ingesting it as they groom themselves. I also brush them on a regular basis to help with the endless shedding. Other than that, they are self cleaning. The only other time I would consider giving them a bath is if they got into something and were covered with stuff they couldn't or shouldn't lick off themselves or if they had a medical condition that made a bath necessary. Neither one of my cats have ever smelled bad. I've never known of an indoor only cat in good health to smell bad. I'd take a bad smelling cat to the vet for a check up.

For health reasons cats should not have a DAILY bath by humans. Its not good for their skin as they need the natural oils to protect their skin, if you bath them daily them they lose the protection of those oils. Having said that, a cat should not have a regular bath more than once a month. Ideally, you shouldn't have to give a cat a bath ever. Honestly. If your cat is smelling a little bit then try changing the cat litter every day instead of bathing it daily.
