What picture have you you just not been able to get out of your head?

First, please read the whole discussion. I noticed some people aren't doing that and then their answer make no sense. So the picture that brings this discussion to life, is one I saw in my local newspaper. I gotta say, if you are very very sensitive, don't read on. Anyway, it was a picture of a rabbit, with about 5 fairly good sized lesions on its face that looked like horns, only in reverse. The sharp point would face us if we were looking at it in its face. The problem was that he rabbit had herpes. Let me tell you, I saw this picture four months ago, and it comes to my mind occasionally and I can't get it out. It was so horrific. The rabbits would starve to death because it can't put its face down to catch anything it might want to eat. A hunter saw one like that and killed it because he couldn't stand the thought of it slowly dying. (he turned it over to the health department) The image was just so bad. It isn't something that should happen, and doesn't happen naturally. So do you have a picture like this that comes to you when you don't want to remember it? Does it bother you only for a while? Or does it stay with you? *Please keep all talk of any pictures clean and free some offensive material. I shouldn't have to add this. : )

I cant think of any pictures RIGHT NOW. But I'd like to say when that happens, I let the picture be. Eventually it fades and over time (long as I dont see it again) it doesnt come back as strong and eventually not at all. Trust me. With time you can forget anything. However, if I say, saw the thing again and again then it would not fade and it would be stuck with me for a while. Ugh. Thats really gross what you described. I dont blame you for not forgetting it. Some things are unforgettable. I do recall scary parts of movies scared me so much the image stuck in my head. After watching "The Blair Witch Project" that last scene with the one kid with his back turned and not watching UGH. I couldnt get THAT image out of my head for a couple of days. And after "The Grudge" the girl looking at the camera the ghost was SO FREAKY I couldnt forget it. I still cant look at that box of the dvd without freaking out. Blah! :(

Isn't it strange how we can know something is not real, but the image stays with us so long? : ) That picture has been rolling around in my brain, and I thought maybe this would exercise it out. Like talking about it would allow it to leave my memory. I'm glad for time though. You're right, in time pictures fade.

I had a horrible dream once that I was walking down the street in some city, and I looked up in the sky and saw a helicopter explode. I saw two bodies falling down to the ground, all charred black. It seemed so real, I woke up with my heart racing, and I couldn't get the image out of my mind. I thought about that for a long time, and it really bothered me even though I've never really seen anything like that in real life.

How odd that THAT would be your random dream. I hope you never have a sequel.

I had one that I couldn't get it out of my head. It was Discovery channel show on piranha. It showed a bird, quite large in size, fell from a tree and didn't use its wings fast enough to fly as it touched the water. Piranha was faster, got to her leg and eat it little by little within minutes. I could see it flapped its wings endlessly but in the end all that was left from it was feathers. I didn't see any blood, but I wished it was boa, cobra or even shark in her position. Why is it that they always show tame or small animals being eaten, why not more of beasts attacking each other? I'm sure they do that among themselves too

I realize they think they are just showing us how nature is, but I don't see how that will benefit anyone from seeing it. I can think of a lot of little boys who would go get a bird and try that out. That's why I can't watch nature shows like that. Once I saw a lion or tiger catch and eat a baby gazelle - I was done with them. It's too hard not to be effected.

Hi ambie. First off, I did not read this discussion all through the end. Just the mentioned of those poor rabbits make me sad. I'm a bunny, remember. I hop in to tell you that I tried to bang my bunny head for hours and still can't recall any pictures that lurked around my mind from time to time. I can only remember a picture with full of carrots, LOL!

I'm glad you skipped that part. I actually did think of my bunny friend when I posted. I think you have a happier future ahead than the other bunny.

It wasn't a picture I could not get out of my head. It was a real scene which I have witnessed when I was very young. I was at the bus-stop waiting for bus. It was raining not really heavy and the traffic was light. A lady, who decide to jay walk slipped in the middle of the road. A car was speeding by. What happens after that? I do not know. I screamed and pulled my mother away from the bus-stop. My legs went wobbly.

How terribly traumatic! I'm glad you didn't look, just the thought of it has stayed with you. I once saw a man accidentally run over a dog that ran into the street, and I can never get that out of my memory. How much worse must it have been to be a person?

If only we could do something to make things like that not happen again. And then all anyone would picture would be children, like the ones you speak of.

I watch Animal Planet sometimes and they have a show about the animal shelters that get calls for animals that are being abused. After watching it a couple of times, I decided that I did not need to watch it anymore. I felt so sorry for those poor animals. It makes me so sad to see animals suffering like that.

That would be terrible. I would have to agree with the farmer and kill it though to put it out of its misery. I cant really think of anything that is stuck in my mind right now as a photo or anything. I too notice many people do not read the discussions through. It amazes me some of the comments that I receive on some of my discussions. LOL They just want the money and have no integrity

I know! It it bothersome. I replied nicely to a guy about not reading the entire discussion and he replied that yeah, he just skims, he doesn't read the whole thing through.

That is just disgusting...horns coming from herpes?! Man... Well, the most disturbing picture that I could never get out of my head was this one I saw in the newspaper about a girl who would literally take a pencil and rip skin off her face cause she thought she looked ugly. You could see how she took the pencil and ripped the skin open in any pore she could. Just typing this out is making me picture it and its super scary and disgusting...the best way to deal with it is to just go into my pictures and find something to make me laugh, then I forget everything xD

That's good advice. Maybe a lot of good pictures can help block out the one bad one. I'm glad I didn't see the picture you described though. That sounds really bad!
