Our friend technology has brought to us Thumb/Flash/Jump Drives. These have helped me out over the last 7 years. I was wondering if anyone still uses their Floppy disc.

Exactly. lol I saw a buddy at work walking around with one. I was thinking what in the world is that. But he needed it to capture a plot from a oscilloscope.

for his birthday you can get him a thumbdrive; a first step to the new age, he might still fear the plague.

I definitely haven't used a floppy in years. I can't really remember when the last time was that I used one, but I know it's been a really long time. My computer right now doesn't even take them.

I don't usually use them, but just the other week I was so glad I still had some. I had to get a new computer and the DVD drive in the old one was not writable, it was read-only. It also didn't recognize the flash drive I was trying to use. Thankfully, I still had some old floppies laying around that I could put some of the files on that I wanted to transfer to the new computer. However, when I got my new computer - it didn't have a floppy drive!!! Something I didn't even think to check when selecting my new computer. I had to take the floppies to my brothers house, he loaded them on his computer and emailed them to me. What an ordeal for a few important files!
