Can anyone here help me with "GOOGLE ADSENSE" ?

I joined Google adsense few days ago. I read everything they gave and even carefully read their policies but still i am unable to understand the whole working of site. I mean pasting the URL's created from adsense to your own website and getting paid is ok. But i don't really know how to make own website because lots of website i made from some free website making sites had their own Google ads on them and had no option of pasting my links on it. So if anyone out here knows any bright ideas about how to use this adsense properly and even how to make own website to paste the URL's to earn money with adsense will be welcomed.
