Buy, build or restore

Ok so say you have £300'000 to find a new home with and you have the three options of buying a ready built home that needs nothing doing to it and you could mve straight in or buying a plot of land and having an architect draw you up some plans for a new home and having it built, or finding a property which might need a little work doing to it be that structural or cosmetic, which option would you find most appealing to you? would you opt for the easiest of just buying a ready made home and move straight in or would you give yourself a little challenge with restoring a property? or would you take the middle timely option of building one from scratch? Me i would restore one i think because it gives the opportunity to do work on the property which may add value to it which is always a good thing you then also have the gratification of having done the work yourself or at least some of the work yourself which i would love. So what about you guys? which option would you choose?
