Two days ago my anti-spyware program found a spyware called VirtuMonde on my computer. It's basically a programs that displays ads on your computer and you get it when you visit websites. Anyway, I used Adaware, spybot, windows defender and AVG anti-spyware and none could get rid of it. So I still have it on my computer and I just don't know how to delete it. Did you ever get Virtumonde on your computer and what software did you use to get rid of it? Thank you for your time and answer.

This happened to me recently. I tried a few different programs. It kept saying that it got rid of it, but then it would come back again. The only thing that worked was me doing a system restore to before it got put on my computer. If you know when it started then restore your system to before then and it should get rid of it.

Thank you kythe. I spent a lot of hours yesterday and today trying to find a tool that could work. I finally found a tool on symantec website that apparently got rid of it. Thank you for this information, next time if I get this spyware I will just do a system restore as it seems to be the easiest way. Thanks kythe!

System restore is a neat tool. Almost like a partial time machine for your computer. Some people abuse it though. My mother once did a system restore because she accidentally erased some scores for a computer game. LOL

Hi Jack This, will kill it from your registry. Or, you can try and kill it from starting, by doing msconfig....I think it would be best to use highjackthis though b/c not all the components might be present in your start menu/config start-up. You can double check by using Bazooka. Bazooka is small and very efficient. The only this is - is that it tells you what is located and where it is but you will have to remove it.....it does spyware, adware, key loggers, etc. You can just use it after you run the program of your choice to see if the program has removed it, that's what I do and I either run the program again to remove it or I will just remove it myself. Congrats on having a good line of defense against scum-bucket spy's....good-luck and let me know if you need any help.

Thanks inallduetime. I finally got rid of it by using a removal tool found on symantec website. But I don't know if it got rid of the registry keys as well. I have hijackthis on my computer but I never figured out how to use it. Thank you for this information, I will take a look at this Bazooka stuff (I never heard of it but I will try it). Thanks!

To get rid of Virtumonde spyware, you may use a removal tool called Vundofix. It can be downloaded for free at atribune. Hope it will help you Votreamie.
