Tips on Iguanas

I have had my iguana for a couple of months now. He's just a little guy yet; probably about 18 inches long from head to end of tail. He's just about to shed again, for his second time since I've had him. He was very sweet when I first got him, but then got very, very cranky when he shed. He still has almost all of the attitude he gained when shedding. He likes to whip his tail, he tries to bite (usually not me, but anyone else who holds him). I handle him many times, every day, but he doesn't seem to be getting any less hostile. Any suggestion? I have done a lot of research on iguanas, but find some conflicting information. I want to hear from people who have had iguanas for a while and know what they're talking about!! Thanks!
