Which operating system is more flexible for end users

Whis is the best operating system.. Eg: Windows 98,xp,vista or unix or linux..

I like Windows XP. I have tried Vista and I can't stand it. I think it was a waste to have that product come out. I would prefer XP. I haven't tried Unix or Linux.
