How do people even get "Make A Donation" buttons for their websites?

I was just reading another discussion about people requesting donations and it got me wondering about this. Is there some site you go to or does paypal run it? I'd love to find out just how people "qualify" for these donation buttons. I've seen them on people's pages for all kinds of different reasons and I can't figure out how they get them. I know I'd love to get some extra money in life but asking for it like that without some really good reason just doesn't seem right. Has anyone here ever used this kind of thing or does anyone know where you even get them from?

There are no qualifications for it. You just make a button, put it on your apge, and link to paypal. The only thing having one shows is that the person knows how to link images to sites.

I see...well I have no idea how to do any of that! Thanks for explaining it. I was just curious and thought there would be some kind of process to go through. I guess anybody can do it for any reason if they know how!

the paypal website offers to give you a code to put on your website specifically designed to collect donation. the button links it to paypal and allows the person to make the transaction. just navigate the paypal site for that option once you are logged in. Ive seen it before. check it out. good luck! =)

I will check it out just to satisfy my curiosity about it. I don't have a REAL need for one, I just wanted to know how it worked. Thanks!

i think paypal has a feature for that. however, i agree with you when you say it just doesn't seem right to ask for donations without any valid/good reason.

I would check with paypal to see if this is an option that they offer....they are reliable and you will not run the risk of loosing your money... I am not really sure what a person would need with this option unless it was for a non-profit charity....but paypal is who I would start with, my friend....

I don't think I'd want one for myself and don't really understand why others do it either. I did see one page from "regular people" that seemed legitimate, their infant had been severely shaken and they were seeking help for the enormous medical bills and possible life long care that he would need if he even survived. Maybe I'll check around on paypal just to satisfy my curiosity! Thanks!

I can understand the need for donations in a case like that... I did not mean to imply that I thought you wanted it for yourself, my friend...

I havent noticed these before. I dont think it is right though, if it is for yourself. But if it is for a charity, that would be alright. Best wishes to you, foxy
