Tips for Adopting Out an Adult Cat?

I've been helping some friends adopt out kittens recently, and found that with kittens, you have tons of inquiries to sort through. Which actually surprised me. Because even though I know that most people want cute baby animals, I figured that with so many kittens being put to sleep in shelters, that there weren't actually enough people looking for/wanting kittens. Now I need to help my grandparents adopt out an adult cat. The problem is, a relative dumped off their cat with my grandparents. The cat is really super sweet (was rescued as a kitten), and is only 1-2 years old. Already neutered. Really nice cat. But my grandfather has an oxygen line going all around the house. And you know how cats are... So the cat is confined to the laundry room (which is fairly big for a laundry room, but still). I posted ads on the same place (Craigslist) as I did for the kitten ads, and no responses at all. This is a plain grey tabby with white socks and golden eyes, so yeah, a pretty common looking cat. But still, I would have thought that someone who inquire. Any ideas?

Well, you can try having family members asking people at work if they would like to adopt the cat. Sometimes, that can be very effective! I'm living proof that it works, as I've adopted a 5-year-old cat, Mimi, from one of my sister's co-workers. True, the cat misses her master and is still holing up in the closet. But she's safe, and will come out in her own good time.

That's a good point. This might be more of a "who you know" thing rather than being able to find a perfect stranger to take the cat because there are just so many adult cats out there. The good thing is, this cat is super friendly with everyone and warms up really quickly. It's even good with my little cousins, so children won't even be a problem. Not sure about other pets, as I'm not sure what other pets it was living with.
