What is your opinion of people who work in a traveling Carnivale/Circus? What do you generally think of them when you see or hear about them? Have you ever met or talked with them? Learned about their way of life? Have any fond memories of carnivales/circuses? I've always been fascinated by their way of life. I mean you never stay in one place, you have a job which is far from average..and people pay to see you. Sometimes it was a hard life, but certainly never dull.

I have a brother who worked for a carnival for a couple of years when he was younger...he liked the lifestyle at the time....but grew tired of being away from home all the time.... I would think that the lifestyle would be extremely difficult unless the person was single....it would not work with a family...

*perplexed* I've seen entire families do quite successfully in carnivales. I know if I ever went up and joined one I and my family'd do fine. Some people couldn't do it yeah, but I'm sure plenty of folks could do well. Yeah, they'd experience the rough spots all traveling carnivales experience..but few things worthwhile are easy. Sometimes it's the hard stuff that makes a job, or a life, fun.

I did not even think about the entire families that do quite well in this type of career....my brother was single at the time...I guess that I was thinking about the family members who did not join in on this lifestyle but rather stayed at home and waited for the carnival worker to reurn home.... Good points....

I think it depends on the family. Most families these days..probably not. Families like mine, maybe..'cause we're kindof like a house full of cats anyway. A little distance can help sometimes, heh.

I have always enjoyed carnivals and circuses. I thought them to have a fun way of life though alot of work. They seemed like a large family. I wondered about the 'freak' show performers. Were they truly as they were portrayed. Seems like a good place to take advantage of something like that for them. A job is a job afterall. I liked the couple of shows on television that showed such traveling shows. They were great pieces to watch. I think of them as regular people. Don't see why I would think otherwise.
