Do you feel comfortable going to the movies alone?

I have no issue going to see a movie by myself if nobody wants to come along with me. I don't see it as being a lonely thing to do as some people do. What about you guys.... do you ever go to a movie on your own? Or do you avoid going to movies on your own until you find someone to go with you?

i can't remember any time i went for movies alone, no i have never gone alone. infact, i am not much into movies and the sole idea of going to a movie is the company, the friends, the family. watching a movie ib cinema halls has alwatys been accompanied by good food and fun. so, without that, i don't think, i would go out alone. i would rather watch it at home. thanx friend.

I completely understand that! I am a big movie buff, so I go to see the movie first and foremost. If it is that I have company all the better! But I understand going to the movie for you is a social thing... it is nicer to have company and be able to have someone to discuss the movie afterwards over dinner or a drink!

Oh yes! Why not? I even did that on my last birthday. I was having a day off myself and my friends were at work, I met them for dinner, so I figured I wanted to do something alone. It was funny though, because when I arrived at the entrance waiting to go inside, there were a couple, and they looked at me like I was totally pathetic (I could see that in their eyes). But in reality, I was all excited doing that alone *laughs*. Anyway, it's just other people's wrong perception on doing things alone! I admit that when I get older now, I enjoy doing more things alone than waiting for other people to do it with me, then I might end up doing nothing!

I feel comfortable doing many things alone, going to the movies is one of them. I have never actually gone alone, but it doesnt seem weird or anything to me. Doing things alone is sometimes so much less stress than trying to plan around people.

This is something that I wanted to do for a long time but have not yet come around to actually doing it. I've tried dining alone and I came out of it unscathed. But when it comes to going to the theater alone, I always get apprehensive about it. And I cannot explain why. Maybe, like you said, I dread being labeled as "lonely", come to think of it, it is really funny to think this. But, ugh! I have not overcome this feeling yet. I will inform you once I am able to watch a movie by myself.

I love going to the movies alone, i also love to watch movies with my friends, either way, it wont bother me. I prefer to watch a movie alone if i have been dying to watch the movie and the people who want to join me are just there to keep me company. I love to laugh in the movie house when im alone, i just stay away from those selected weirdos. :)

Of course I enjoy going to the movies alone. I don't need to constantly depend on someone else for companionship. Besides, I don't consider watching a movie a "siclal" activity. Think about it. You're sitting QUIETLY infront of a screen all day. Where is the communication? Where is the participation? What is the fun of that? I actually PREFER to go to the movies alone!!!

No, I wouldn't be comfortable. I can watch a movie alone in the house but not in a theater. It just seem sad that you have no one to share the popcorn with!!! But apart from the food, I'd rather have a company to enjoy the movie.

I don't go to the movies by myself, but only because there are no local theaters. If I have to travel nearly 40 miles to see a movie, I won't bother making the trip unless I have someone else who wants to see the movie too. It wouldn't bother me to do it though if there were one closer.

I've never been to a movie alone but I don't think it would be a problem for me. I'm not one of those people that constantly need to be surrounded by people. Going to a movie alone might be the only quality alone time someone might have.
