How should we walk during our Morning Walks?

I am 58 years old with BP and Sugar problems. I cannot walk very fast as I feel some heaviness in my heart. But I see many people walk very fast. Is it waste if I walk with moderate speed? Or should I walk fast to get the walking benefit? Can you please clarify my doubt?

Dont put extra on your body as if you will walk fast you might get some injury and it may not be good for you so try to be in your limits and dont leave walking as it will make you fell better.

Hi. You should walk to suit your own pace, you dont have to walk fast like everyone else, all you can do, is do your best, smell the fresh air and enjoy your senery... Good for you...

It is important to realize that your early morning strolls will improve your health. Keep up the good work! Faster walking can help the weight loss by allowing you to walk further in the same amount of time. Going faster can also strengthen your heart -- never a bad idea.

I'm sorry to hear about your conditions, my dad is 56 and he has suffered from similar ailments. I think it's great that you are still taking exercise, and i don't think you should feel the need to compare yourself to others you see walking down the street. Any exercise is good exercise, and it would be bad for you to 'overdo' it, so I'd suggest that you stick at a pace that's comfortable for you. People are always rushing around these days, always in a hurry - it's nice to just take a nice slow stroll sometimes, and take in the views. I think walking is wasted if it is done in a hurry. Maybe if you wanted to feel some more benefit from exercise, you could go swimming - one of the best exercises you can do, and it puts the least amount of strain on your body since we are all so light in the water! This way you can work muscles you didn't even know you had, without even feeling it! :o)

Thanks friend for the advice. I do not know swimming and I do not have courage to learn swimming at this age. But your answer gave me courage that my moderate walk is also helpful.

I want to do Yoga and pranayam but should learn from somebody who knows it properly. I do not want to do on my own, as some mistake may occur and it may be bad for health. I will surely learn and do yoga and pranayam. Thanks friend.

Any activity is good activity. The people you see passing you up, just have different metabolisms and more than likely different blood pressure than you.. Don't push yourself into a heart attack, but get that activity in, and see if you can walk a little further each day.
