I say it to them all of the time. I make sure to stress that I *love* them - I'm not *in* love with them. But to me, it's totally fine to tell your friends you love them.

My bestfriend and I always exchange "i love you's" everytime we end our conversation. Yes, we do love each other, not as romantic lovers, but as best friends. I don't think there would be anything wrong to say these words to your bestfriend. Love is given, not only to the person you are romantically involved with, but also to other people you really care about. I would also say "love you" to my mom every now and then. I would also say these words to my kids. They're worth saying to anyone who's close to your heart, so long as you mean what you say.

I think it should be reserved to lovers, family, and VERY close friends. I mean the friends that you would go to the wall for, the ones you'd risk it all to help. As a child, I was taught the story from the Bible about Jonathan and David. How they loved each other as brothers. (And this was for a time in spite of Jonathan's dad, Saul trying to kill David.) It really hit home to me how close a friend can be. That they do not just have to be some familiar acquaintence you see and do a thing or two with.

I dont think so.. Cause for me its ok to say it to your close friends.. But if you feel something like more than friendship feelings, well maybe thats the time you will be shy to say it to him/her.. ^_^

i dont think so, i think you should say it to familiar and wife...not to friend, say that you like them a lot, but love, love is another thing...different...

For me, it's no big deal. Saying I love you's to those people whom you love and are dear to you heart is okay...we are free to say what we do feel in our hearts for as long as it's not against our will, to show our love to those people whom we love is a truly great thing a person can do and give to their fellows.

I say i love you to my friends too. Love for friends and love for lovers are too different thing. There is no restrictions between friends as long as you guys have gone no limits or boundaries between you.
