I have a big problem. I bought a parcel of land and a deed of sale was executed between me and the owner of the said parcel of land. The deed of sale indicates that the seller is the true owner and the parcel of land that he owns is clean. So after I paid in cash, I constructed a house with swimming pool. I have spent almost double the amount I originally bought that parcel of land. Two years later, several police came to the house with eviction notice that the house and the pool was illegally constructed since I did not own the land whre it was constructed and the true owner is now claiming the land. So I showed the policemen the papers and deed of sale I got from the one who sold the land. The police said the lot title was fake but they could not confirm so they will have to verify and I have to live somewhere else during their investigation. Two years has passed and still there is no result of their investigation and no clear report as to whold the land really belongs all they have is a document that the real owner has and they said they will still have to investigate further...but I need that report so that I could file a lawsuit to the person that I bought from...and the police contacted me that that person has contacted them and is willing to settle but is willing to pay for the amount equal to the original cost of the parcel of land...and the police told me I have no choice but to take the offer...but how about the amount I paid for the construction of the house and the pool not to mention the amount I paid for the rent of the apartment I have been renting for the past 2 yars and I am so broke coz I am jobless...what do you think should I do? I am so confused...I really need the money already so that I could buy a new property and start all over again.

If I am in your shoes, I will have to sue the person that sold the land and the policemen who are obviously delaying the investigation...you should report the matter to higher authorities...give the details to mediamen how badly you are being treated and that there is a big possibility that the police itself are actually sabotaging you in a way that they are actually coniving with the person that sold you the land. Why would they be communicating with a person that brought so much trouble in you when they should have arrested that person a long time ago? It is really so unfair...you ca not go on that way...you must seek help from other sources that could give you real justice and obviously not the police...you are not safe there...and if possible...if they continue to treat you that way...you must do something...like contact the US to help you find justice.

Well, I don't really know much about legal systems, but I'm sure there is a way with this, I would suggest getting a good lawyer to sort this stuff out. If nothing works, then I've seen this show where people can move whole houses, even whole towns. Take your house with you. You built it, so at least if you have to buy your own land, you'll have the house.. I saw this show on national geographic, people have moved whole towns intact.

You or an attorney need(s) to check the register of deeds to determine if the seller had a deed or title to the property or if it was fraud. In any case, I think this should be determined by the court(s) and not simply by a police statement. You still do not know who owns the property. An attorney may be necessary. A person should do a deed search or title search before purchasing real estate to determine ownership and that there are no debts against the property.

Contacting a lawyer would be the best thing to do. A lawyer will be the one who could tell you what you can do about this and how to go about doing it. If there is anything that can be done, a lawyer should be able to take care of it.
