Stuck for writing ideas?

I have read so many people on here asking for ideas on what to write and how do we get our ideas. I have given my 2c about dreams and news stories, etc. But I unconvered a new idea this week. I do not know where this original idea came from so I do not want to take credit for it. It was posted on a writing page that I frequent and I decided to use it with my writing group yesterday. First, using a dictionary, pick 10 random words and write them down. Second, using the words you have chosen come up with 3 to 5 titles. Feel free to add words like "and", "the", "an", "a", "or", etc. Now you have your titles. Write a premise for the title. Write what the story could be about. If you like what you've done, keep going and write your story. We had fun with this in writing group yesterday, some pretty silly titles that would make great children's stories really. I don't expect responses to this "discussion", just thought I'd share with you something that might help you with your writing efforts. Good luck!
