When I grow up....

While at the eye Dr. today the nurse asked my daughter what she wanted to be when she grew up. And with hesitation she said a cheer leader. Now keep in mind she is only 7. But I started to think about what I wanted to be when I grew up. As far as I can remember I wanted to be a Vet. And I got to wondering how many people actually became what they wanted to be when they grew up. So please tell me what it was you wanted to be and if you made that goal or choose a different career?

I always wanted to be a police officer growing up. After watching my first episode of Cops I changed from wanting to be a police officer to wanting to be a fireman. But now Im neither, funny how things work out. Cheers!

I wanted to be a footballer. So much I actually never stopped as a kid, I played for my school time from the age of six being the youngest to make the junior team who are normally 8-10. After that I had to pack it in after taking a blow to my knee, pretty much that was dream :) ~Joey

It's cool. I'm glad I didn't because I wasn't really strong enough (spirit wise) to face that and I wouldn't have a great family now. :) *waves

I too wanted to be a vet but life got in the way. So I was an airline stewardess, secretary, model, translator and finally a fraud investigator... weird huh!

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a nurse and guess what I worked 20 years in the medical field. 11 as a nurse and 9 as a sleep tech, and supervisor of a sleep lab. So I did what I wanted to do. I also wanted to join the military and travel while being a nurse, I was to stupid to pass the test to get into the millitary. That was 30 years ago. LOL

When I was a kid I wanted to live on a farm, but I didn't actually want to be a farmer because I didn't want to kill my poor animals. I wanted to be a teacher at one time because I never had one of those significant teachers that some people had and I wanted to be that person... I also wanted to be a culinary artist. I went to high school for culinary arts. I could have pursued it afterwards but I realized... what if I do this for a living and get tired of it? It's something I've always loved doing and never wanted to get tired of it... so I didn't pursue it. Heck I'm 25..I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be now that I AM grown up :(

that's what everyone says. but there are 40 year olds who don't know what they want to do with their life and 70 year olds and 80 year olds who are retired and never did what they wanted to do their with their life. i don't think you do figure out always.

i used to say a lawyer, then a police officer became more realistic to me as i got older, but still none of the two.

I had wanted to be a teacher for as long as I could remember and I was a teachers assistant at one point of time. I chose to leave that profession and go into what I am doing now because I was not making enough money to survive with the position. I never went to school to be a teacher. I have volunteered for 4H here teaching but again was not able to continue. :)
