I can relate, I try my very hardest to change what I am doing at the exact moment i start feeling myself drift into that nerve racking hole of depression. This is not that easy though and believe me it takes time to catch your self right before you get sucked in by that specific moment. For example, if you are at work, get up and take a walk anywhere you can just chang your enviroment even if only for a couple of minutes.I like to personally call these my "secret timeouts", hell, only you need to no what's up right?

Once in a while I feel like I'm down and I can't ever get up. Like I've failed and I can't fix it.
I take it one day at a time. I set myself small goals and then try to achieve them. Sometimes they are pretty basic goals, like clean out my email or vacuum my apartment, but they do get stuff done, and I can feel okay about them. Then I try to push myself to exercise or to go out with my friends. Each day, it gets a bit easier.

For me, sometimes somethings work and some don't.
For instance, this past weekend I was in that same kind of mood, and all it took was as hug from a friend of mine--- and then I got one from my fiance'-- I was ready to slay a few dozen dragons at that point..
So if you want to fly out to Pittsburgh, there's at least a few hugs I can promise and you could count on an few more ; ) (For now, you'll have to settle for a cyber hug.)
Othertimes, I've found certain music has really got me jazzed up to conquer the world when my confidence has faltered. When I was in High School I had this mix tape I made for myself, my "Victory Mix"
Im trying to think off all that was on it, oh hell I'll add some tunes I use now:
Victory - from the Pirate Movie Soundtrack
BareNaked Ladies - One Little Slip
Rush - Freewill, Closer to the Heart
Poison - Ride the Wind
Motley Crue - Kickstart my Heart
Chicago - Dialogue, Feeling Stronger Every Day
Journey - Anyway you want it, Be Good To Yourself
Kenny Loggins - Nobodys Fool
Starship - It's Not Over Til Its Over
Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench (Especially if you shout aloud with the rant towards the end)
Ozzy Osbourne - Flying High Again, No More Tears
Prince - Let's Go Crazy
and to top it all off
Richard Marx - Don't Mean Nothing & Satisfied
Sometimes, though I am so pissed at myself due to a mistake or something that I think I did wrong or missed an opportunity. Then I do some vigorous exercise-- if I can get my mountain bike and ride. If it's winter and icy, a video game might come out to take all my pent up frustrations with myself.
Well I hope this helps, and I hope you are geared up soon to rejoin life in a happy and vibrant way!

You are not a Looser. It takes a strong person to admit that their confidence deserts them.
I know its upsetting when you can't face someone or something, I was badly bullied at school when I was young and it has left me with problems when confronting people.
The only advice I can give is keep trying and don't beat yourself up over it. lack of confidence is never the fault of the sufferer and is usually caused by some past event. If you can work out what the event is it makes it easier to deal with.
I did yoga for a while and found that deep breathing exercises are very helpful for combating stress of all kinds.
You'll usually find most people lack confidence but just don't admit it. You've already got one up on them cause your facing your fears, well done.
