I've got a theory on why our My Lot photos are getting deleted.

I had a theory on why some of the photos being uploaded are being deleted. Not sure if this is true, mind you, it's a theory. It's against My Lot rules to upload a blatantly copyrighted photo. So maybe they're just cracking down on that rule. So, now anyone who has an avatar of a famous person or uploads a photo that is not theirs may find that it gets zapped by the moderators. I haven't visited the My Lot board for awhile, so I'm not sure what other members are saying on this subject.
What do you think?

You may very well be right. It does makes sense for them to delete photos that are in fact copyrighted. I wonder if anyone has emailed mylot to find out why they are being deleted.

Any violation of posting copyrighted photos will
cause the members account to be banned or deleted.
Not just the picture being taken off mylot.

I think that is a very good theory beauty. I thought maybe they were just having some hiccups in the system or something. But as anyone heard a formal annoucement why?

That's a good theory, but I haven't run into a site yet that hasn't had problems with hiccups, or being hacked, etc. With all that I've read around here lately, I'm not sure what to think about this matter. I guess like everything else, it could be anything.

That's not what's happening since yesterday. It's all a glitch in their program is all. I have photos I've taken myself of my garden etc and they show up as red X's. It's all a glitch not some mylot seletion process. Sorry to burst your bubble. By the way some photos i upload of my own are showing and some aren't so it's a glitch is all.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

It's a good theory, but does not explain why my personal pic of myself and the graphic I designed myself come and go.
Maybe bandwidth levels have been reached through MyLot's host.

I feel it will be good if myLot administrators write (i.e. email) to the member before any action to delete an uploaded photograph or an avatar is taken, and let the person know the reason for the violation. Perhaps the member can be told to remove the violation by certain date/time failing which myLot will take the necessary action at their end without further warning.
A lot of members, myself included, probably do not know the rules well enough to keep good adherence to them. Some education or constant reminders from myLot administrators will help here, especially on the common violations.

Maybe and maybe not.But in my own opinion maybe it is just because moderator are doing something new here and it affects some avatar which is missing. But it doesnt mean they erased it.Because i do experienced it yesterday and today. But now, my avatar is here again...

I don't think so. My first avatar was my own photo with my husband. It's true I never have a problem with that one. The last one was an avatar from a free download avatar. A mylot friend posted the link to this free avatar site and it doesn't say anywhere on this site that this avatar can not be downloaded. They even provide HTML code in case we need it.
I have another friend whose avatar was missing too and this avatar is a personal photo of her. She is a photographer and posted a lot of her works on her profile too. I don't know about other people's avatars though. Right now I deleted my avatar completely and I won't bother uploading it again. I have my photo on my blog and the free avatar in another forum I join, never have a problem.

What is the myLot board....am I missing something important...where do I find this???
That is possible about the photos though...copyrighted photos are against the policy and are considered plagiarism or something like that...I know that is the right word for stolen words...not sure if still correct for photos though....

That would make a lot of sense for mylot to do so. I know that there are sites that have picture sharing and allow you to copy pictures for avatars from there. There are however some sites that require you to purchase the picture before you can load it on your computer as your own. I'm guessing mylot knows the difference between these and just randomly deletes them. Either that or the photos that have been delted have been complained about by other users.
