If you read a really good book with some really good quotes in it (Such as Tuesday's with Morrie for example) do you ever take a highlighter to a book and just highlight some really memorable quotes? I do this once in a while..not often...but some books I just have to!

I do not write in books. If I want to remember a quote I will write it down in a book or journal. If I want to mark something then I will use a small post-it note to mark the page and point an arrow on the post-it note towards what I want marked. I will not write in books.

I do it too sometimes because it's good to remember quotes like these and not only quotes, but useful information as well ^_^ Although I only mark books that are paperback...I hate to ruin my hardbound books and their glossy paper!

I do mark books on occasion, much like you when something really calls out to me. It's not a thing I normally do, but sometimes if I plan to keep the book (not trade it on PaperbackSwap.com, for example) and there's something I just love, I have to underline it or write a comment in the margin about my thoughts. I enjoy going back and looking at these again at a later date.

No, I would never mark up a book. I would just copy out a good guote in some sort of shorthand that I could understand. I often keep a piece of paper inserted in the book I'm reading for just that purpose. I sell books for a living and I would NEVER write in a book.

I generally have pencile when reading a book. I under line some good quotes and important scenes. If i'm reading a subject book not only that i mark important sectons, i also jot down the key words and terms and concepts so that while revising it would be easy for me. I also underline any new words that i come across and write the meaning over there so as to improve my vocab

Never. I take so much care when taking books to work, or out to read somewhere like on holiday, I'd hate to spoil them by writing on them. I might make notes on certain types of book, but in a journal, or on a seperate piece of paper.I never fold the edges to mark my place either.
