How is the summer heat where you live?

Summer in the city - Hot summer days.

Boston is in the middle of a heat wave! Today was the first day and we're expecting 3 more days of 90 degree weather. Now I like summer but I definitely don't like heat waves. Not only does the temperature rise but the humidity gets high also and that's what does a job on me. I'm not a beach person so I won't go and sit by the ocean and bake myself dry. My way of getting through it is sitting inside with my AC on as high as it goes and staying comfortable. If I have to go to the store for anything I wait until the sun is just about down and then I'll go out but not a moment sooner. What's the temperature like where you live? Is it getting hotter or are you lucky and live in Australia where it's winter now? If it's hot do you go out in the heat or stay in with the AC on? How do you get through it?

I live in California where it is hot and dry. I am used to hot humid wheather as I am from Puerto Rico. I don't like the dryness of California. I don't mind the heat but instead of AC I prefer fans. LOL they don't use that much electricity.

We have the same weather in PR and the Dominican Republic. I have lived in Miami and it is very humid too. I love the Dominican food. We had a lady that helped my parents from Santo Domingo and she cooked deliciously...

I have relatives in Mars PA if you've ever heard of it...nobody I know ever has. My niece called my mom last night and said it was just as hot there as it is here. We usually have similar weather.

I live in Oceanside Ca, it is about 30 minutes north of San Diego, the weather here has been the same sunny and between 70-73.. We get a nice cool breeze from the ocean but I wish the weather was warmer

It is very hot where I live. It is rainy season here now but most of the time it is very hot. I suppose the cold climate makes living more comfortable. I have not experience how it is like to be living in cold country.

It seems that when it rains it always feels hotter afterwards...here in Boston anyway.

Last year I retired after 28 years working in a Plastic Factory..We made parts for cars..plastic gas tanks for cars and trucks..plastic bumpers..facia's and so forth..but even in the winter of michigan where the temperature is about 20's it was very hot at work..in the summer the temp..is about 80+ on an average day but in july and august it was very humid and very hot..working around the various injection molding presses and blow molding and twin sheets was even worse..i had to go in the ovens and the heat was very bad..and on top of the presses too.. So last summer was the first summer the heat never bothered me..since I did not have to work in this environment ..even the hottest days were tolerable but I live in Southeastern Michigan on Lake Erie..we have a good breeze all the time...but my wife is from the Philippines and that climate is hot 12 months a year..so i have spent one Christmas (December) in the Philippines and that climate is very very hot..all the time..except rainy season..and then it is hot and very humid...Boston is on the ocean..so I think you should have a few months of hot weather but how would you like 12 months a year of this type of heat? lol..no I don't think I would either..but with global warming???

I work in a nursing home and the eldery residents all want the A/C turned off..even on the hottest days. The nurses and cna's are sweating rivers but the residents are in their rooms with no A/C and the windows clossed and they are wearing sweaters witht their blankets pulled up and still complain its too cold...I guess their circulation is bad but since the medical staff is there for the comfort of the residents the staff has to put up with the heat..

oh, you made me laugh there, last summer here in the Philippines the reporter of one news program tried t show it by putting an egg white & yolk in an 'owner' car, then see if it will be cooked, what happened when it is so thin it was somewhat cooked, but that temperature i suppose is very much far from the very hot temperature you are in, what is it again?100 degrees celsius or fahrenheit, we use here celsius, i think it 38 - 40C, hehe..^^

A week or so ago we here in Minneapolis Minnesota ahd 5 days of over 90 degree days with high humidity. Now we have got that all back yet worse in a sense. We have now had 3 days in a row over 90 with hu=igh humidity again and no relief expected till Wed or even Thursday. I can't stand the humidity with my asthma. The heat is fine but that humidity compresses my chest too much. I will sit at a lakes beach as long as the humidity isn't high. My wife and father both hate the a/c and or fans but I yell at them both not to turn them of or I'll be in the hospital next. HAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I'm with you in the asthma dept. Without my ac I would be living in the hospital. As it is when I have to go outside as soon as I get back in I have to hit the nebulizer...sometimes a double dose!

i live in the southwestern corner of Arizona. today i believe we hit 106F. and according to the local weather report on the news..we are expected to hit 111F for the rest of this week. thankfully we have a dry heat, and nowhere near the humidity that the eastern half of the country seems to be bogged with. how do i get thru it? i worship the A/C!! and never go anywhere during the day unless its an absolute MUST..especially since i dont have a/c working in my car. late night trips are much cooler, but by no means "cool".

My daughters inlaws live in Scotsdale and as many times as my daughter has visited there she can't get used to the horrible heat. I don't know how people live there!

The heat never bothered me all that much....it's the humidity that gets to me. For the last few years we didn't get much rain here in Denison Texas....so it was hot but dry.Now this year we've had more rain already than we had total last year and with temps being in the 90's....talk about hot and humid.Even with the AC running full blast it doesn't feel all that comfortable in the house. The thing I hate the most is.....I take a shower and before I even get out of the bathroom....I'm already sweating again.I try to get most of my running around done before noon.....because due to all the rain....if you go out at dawn or dusk.....you get bombarded by Mosquitos. I feel realy sorry for my family in Germany....because they are having about the same kind of weather as we do here......but it's not normal for most people over there to have AC's.I don't think I could do that any more.....I guess I got spoiled living here.

Isn't it always that damn humidity? Global warming or not there's always been humidity and here in Boston it's always been the worst part of summer.

I live in Miami, so it gets very hot and sticky and humid. Usually around the upper 80's to mid 90's. But the weather here is pretty much summer all year long so I'm quite used to it and it doesn't bother me. A/C is permanently on at home, in the car, at work...I'm patiently waiting for the day someone invents portable A/Cs.. hehe!

Thankfully the humidity is not too bad in Denver but the temps have been 99 - 100 recently. Way to warm in my opinion.

You are more lucky than me. I am living in China. The summer is very hot. But now I have no AC in my living room, just a fanner. You can imange how hot it is. I don't hate summer but I really hate the hot weather. It makes me feel uncomfortable. I'd rather stay in my house than go out, just like you. If I need go shopping, I will chose to do it in evening.

oh, here, i think it is getting better since rainy season is in but rains is very very uncommon i don't know why, every year when the month of may enters expect that when its end is to come, rain will come but it is the END OF JUNE and only few drops, whoa!!i have experienced here very hot temperatures maybe if compared in your place's temperature it is very low, but still hot!!, oh my gosh but i have read from yahoo that it is not an effect of global warming since our weather is changing if we will base it on past records, that sometime it is very early or not, but i think this occurrence has something to do with the mere fact that global warming is trying to enter our lives, poor people we are if it really invades:(..thanks..

yah, i have heard of that i just don't know the figure, maybe .1 or .01 of degree Fahrenheit, yes global warming even though it is vey slow to be felt, maybe a couple of years its effect is really tremendous which can kill not just thousand but millions and millions of people especially those near the sea shores, thanks..good!!^^

I gave up on weathermen a long time ago. It makes me wonder what kind of schooling they need if any! They are never right here in Boston and it's sort of a standing joke with the people here.

I too don't like the heat and humidity which we're also getting here in Michigan - I would much rather be cold as you can always put more cloths on to warm up but there is only so much you can take off to cool down - and even then your still hot. I however am a beach person, love the water, and don't care much for air conditioning plus we don't have any now. 3 foot pool will be where you'll find me most of the next few days.

Oh I do feel for you not having any place to put even a little kids pool - I've used them often just to lay in and cool off. Grandson and I just blew up air-mattress and floaty toy - told him Grandma has to do a little work then we're out to the pool. Most likely for the day as weather here is predicted to be the same as the last few days - hot and humid :( Never really even cooled off last night,, that's rare, usually we'll at least get releif with cool nights.

I would give anything to have a yard to put a pool in! I wouldn't care if it was only 2 inches at this point. Anything to cool off would be welcomed.

It's hot, way to hot. I can't stand it. My husband will sit out in the sun and I don't know how he can stand it, it makes me sick after a few minutes. I never sweated till I moved here, you don't even have to do anything, it's so hot and humid that you sweat from doing nothing.

Right here we have the heat wave too. Today is supposed to get up to about 98 degrees Farenhiet. I live in Ontario Canada. I love the heat but can't stand the humidity. It does horrible things to my asthma. Normally it should only be around 80 degrees around this time of year. I don't get time to park it on the beach because I work a lot and it is during the day so by the time I get done the sun has set and it is a little too cold to swim or the mosquitoes are out and thats just not fun.

I didn't realize that Canada even got that hot. I'm not a very traveled person and have never been there. It is awful when we have to deal with asthma too isn't it?
