I am told that front loading washers are better. Does anyone have one? Do you like it better? What is the difference in a front loader and a top loading washing machine? Is it easier on the back to load from the front? How does a front loader get the clothes clean when there is no mesher in the middle to swish the clothes around? Enquiring minds would like to know? LOL

If I could afford it I would buy a front loader. I think they are easier to retrieve and load clothes in and out of, more economical, and yes - gentler on the clothing. without that agitator beating them up and pulling on them, the clothes should have a longer life span.... I am not sure how they get clean just by spinning and flipping, but it is the same for the industrial machines at the laundry mat. My friend does about 7 loads of laundry a day and has a front loader, they hold up better says she - as well as the clothing - they always appear to be clean :)

Being French, I have always used frontal washers. They ARE much better. Actually I find my clothes grey and dirty when I have to use a top load one. The agitator does nothing, they are swished a lot more in frontal. But there are several other factors. First, it takes much longer. I have never understood how they can clean up in 1/2 hour. You don't scrub (which used to remove stains etc...), it is only mechanical, so... it takes time. It is a matter of organization. Second, it rinses 3 or 4 times, so the soap is completely gone. Third, the most important, they heat up the water progressively. Stains are NOT removed in cold water, and stuck if you put hot water directly. And we do NOT use bleach, which gives greyer colors (white being one of them). By the way, I am trying to replace my AEG, 17 years old. Yes, the German ones last that long! Any idea for me? Thanks

I don't have one . But I have heard really good things about them. I know that they use a lot less water, so that gives them good grades already. The front load does not need an agitator but I am sorry I can't explain the reason. Not the front loader would not be easier on your back as you have to bend over . Never thought of that . Sorry I am not more help , I will have to do some more research on that .
