Guinea pigs and fleas

My friend has 5 cats and her cats got fleas. She brought the fleas over to my house and now the piggies have fleas.(And I am getting bitten up to so I can't imagine how my piggies feel.) How do I get rid of them? Is there anything I can use on the piggies? Is there something to help from them coming back?

i think you buy a powder taht wil help your pet to remove the fleas

Not for guinea pigs. Pyrethrin powders are dangerous for them (as are the pyrethrin sprays). These are cheap and easily available, but they can be deadly. Better to go with something that will work without being so dangerous.

You can use Revolution or Advantage on guinea pigs, but please see www.guinealynx.info for dosing information rather than just using a whole kitten tube. You'll have to dose by weight.
