Being referred for a job... I hate it!

My uncle has a friend in a company and he might have mentioned or asked him if they were hiring because I graduated with a degree related to the firm. I was given a number to contact then asked to drop by anytime. Upon arriving there I really did not know which position to apply for as they were the ones who talked about it. And so I said graphic artist since that is what I finished, but my uncle has mentioned that his friend needed someone who is competent with a language I can speak. And so, I was forwarded by the HR to the creative head, and she said that they actually do not have an opening and I didn't really know what the heck I was doing there. My point was that if they talked about it, he should at least be offering me that position which was available that they needed to be filled. I just felt like an idiot, and now my uncle contacted his friend to ask about me, and his friend said that I was invited to take a creative exam which was true, as the creative head said after saying they actually don't have vacancy " But if you like you can drop by and take the creative exam." It was just a feeling of unwelcomed guest trying to make it in. Actually, I didn't ask to be referred, I actually do not like being referred because I feel like I am not capable of making it in by myself. And I just feel like if done so, the other party just feels obligated to entertain me as a favor to his friend. Call it pride but it doesn't feel good. Now my uncle wants me to call his friend again to confirm and clear things regarding what position he was wanting to fill, because assuming as he said only will make an a** of both of us... I don't feel like calling anymore but I don't know if I should because somehow it is my uncle's name at stake. What should I do?
