Building a Home

Has anyone had experience with building a home, or at least thought about it? Its amazing how much time, work, and money need to go into it. First you find the land, then you get septic tests done, then in my case I will have to drill a water well. All of this can cost thousands and thousands of dollars and I wouldn't have laid a brick yet. I've been saving for two years now with a considerable amount saved but I won't even have enough to start building. For me if everything goes right, I will buy the land, get my tests done, drill a well, along with having a loan to cover what I can't afford. Then I will start saving again and someday in the future build my home.

Been there and done that. We decided to go ahead and build with loans and it was the best decision to not wait. We are glad we didn't wait. This was years ago and have since sold it as my husband got transferred. We are now debating on buying land for future building when we move back to Oregon.

Thats kind what I was thinking, I know it will take time but I really want to build where I found this land and even though it may take a long time to get done or afford I don't think I can pass up the opportunity
