Is your dog afraid of cats?

My dog shys away from cats. She will sit and bark if a cat is between me and her. She wants to be with me but won't even go by a cat if one is between us. These are cats in our own household. We just had a cat given to us but after a few days, this cat realized that the dog wasn't going to challenge her in any way, she now just walks right on by the dog. The dog shys away and goes in the opposite direction. The cats have tiffs with each other, but our dog lives and lets live. Does anyone else have a dog who is afraid of cats?

No, I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and they all get along brilliantly, they never have fights or chase each other.

That is wonderful. Mine don't chase each other. My dog just won't go by the cats. The cats don't do anything but just lay or sit and look at her like why is she barking? She barks because she wants to come where we are but she is afraid to go past the cats. It is really strange.

my neighbours dog a always comes over to ours to play. we have got 2 cats and he is always barking at them. when he comes across if one of the cats are about he barks at use but doesn't come past it to see us.

My dog is a chihauhau and her friend in the house is our cat. They wrestle and chase each other. When our cat has had enough he simply jumps up on something to get away from the dog.
