Now I am no professional photographer, I just enjoy doing it in my free time. I've noticed that natural light, outdoors is so much more pure than indoors or unatural light. Can anyone give me a reason for this? Thanks!

Sunlight produces a wider range of wavelengths of light than lightbulbs do. It is not just photography that is affected by this--painting is another field where natural light is better. You can paint something in a studio under artificial light, than take it outside and it will look completely different (quite bland in fact). It is better to paint under natural light. They make lightbulbs today that are closer to the effects of natural light, have you tried them yet?

I'm not a professional photographer either. I do find that natural light is good for our outdoors pictures, even though chances are, you will captures the shadows too. For indoors, instant flashes cannot be compared to the natural light. However, if you increase the ISO of your digicam, maybe you can strike a balance of the lighting. Of course, unless you are using the manual mode, you won't be able to do that.

It does depend. I was at the beach in FL and we did get some pretty good pics (we thought) but when we actually looked at them closely we realized most of the people in the pics had shadows over their faces! So the next time we went out we tried to face the sun, which made us squint! I think it's easier to take pics indoors, however you have to have bright lighting. If the lights are dim, my pictures will come out dim even with the flash on. It's weird but if it's pitch black and I take a photo with the flash, the photo will come out... but if it's dim, the flash doesn't really do much to make the photo any better. So my advice is - if you are having trouble with indoor photos, work on the lighting so it's brighter. OR get closer to the subject you are trying to shoot so the flash actually brigthens them up.

Natural light is the best. But you have to make the frame composition best.

well, yes.. natural light is very good when you want to do portraits. but deppends, cause, there's that direct light from the sun, with hard shadows and that is not good. the light has to be soft. the best outside light you can get after 4 pm.
