Complainers

Ok, everday that I get on here there is someone (more than one person) constantly complaining about this mylotter or that mylotter. I have been here long enough to know that people are going to cheat no matter how much someone complains. No matter what security precausions are in place there will always be someone that figures out how to "cheat" the system. I agree with all of the complaints I have seen (some people, their only discussions are complaints about other mylotters)but really what good does it do to complain about these people all the time. All it is doing is getting themselves all worked up and possiblely whoever is reading the discussion. Is it really getting mylot's attention, are they cracking down on the cheaters? There really is no way for sure for us to tell so why even worry about it. We should be worrying about how we do things and what we say. That should be all that is important. Report and move on, that is my theory. And if it really bothers you, give them a negative rating. What do you all think?

Well Mahmah, I think that what you are saying makes perfect sense. On the other hand I can undertand why some people might complain about the cheaters as well. One of the reasons is to let everyone know who the cheater is and why. That way you can help your fellow mylotters to avoid the cheater so that they don't respond to that persons discussion thus causing them to lose points. Cheaters don't just cheat themselves they also end up cheater other mylot members so we all need to watch out for one another.

I truly understand your point. But when it is every single day about the exact same thing it gets to be a little much. I think that everyone should know about the cheaters (which I think most know quite a bit) but every day same complaints is a little much.

Sorry if I sound naive. But I am new at this and I have some questions If anyone could care to answer: 1.) How can you tell if someone's a cheater. 2.) what is there to cheat about? (I find the rules quite simple and see no reason to do so -You participate and get paid for it - Am i right up to now?) 3.) And the killer one, how do you cheat?

As easy as the guidelines are to follow some people have a difficult time doing so. There are some who will just go to a discussion and type the same message over and over again. The message they type has nothing to do with the discussions at all. Or you have those who steal or plagiarized their response by copying what someone else has written. These are just a couple of ways there are more.

Hi mahmah, I try to ignore the complainers. Sometimes a response, be it positive or negative, is all they want. Ignoring them can discourage them. I don't give negative marks, as it actually says in the discussion rating system that to give a negative mark affects the person giving it as well. I just give positive marks to every comment I like, and responses to those for which I have feedback to offer.

I think it might be just for the response because these discussions do have a load of responses to them. But that is another thing that bothers me. The discussions that are simply what is your favorite color end up with hundreds of responses. Now the ones that take a little more thought to respond to get left behind and ignored. What is your favorite color anyway? (Sorry had to be a smarty) Mine is purple. :) mahmah

Amen to that. It is the best advice I have heard in a long time. I hate cheaters as much as the next person but some people take it personally and seem to try and round up a group of vigilantes to hunt them out. As you say report them and move on, dont make it a 24/7 commitment or they will drive themselves crazy and get old and bitter.

I must be lucky, because I have managed to avoid seeing very many of these discussions. I've certainly not seen any that specifically name a person as a cheater! While I don't condone people cheating to make more money, as far as I know, someone cheating the system will not reduce how much the rest of us get paid. And they will be the ones who have to deal with the negative karma for their negative actions!

I am glad for you that you don't have to see these annoyances. I have also never seen a specific name but if you read carefully you can find your way to who they are talking about. lol I also don't think that it reduces how much we earn but it might affect how long a site will be here for us to enjoy. A lot of sites like these get shut down because of excessive cheating etc.

I joined myLot just recently and I am currently enjoying the works people have put in to this site... however, I have not idea as to what you are taking about!!!??? Who is cheating!? Why are they cheating!? How will I know if they are cheating!? Could you elaborate more on this topic... thanks... -The King of Reason and The Leader of None-

Most people find them as a fluke occurance. other people hunt them down it seems. I don't have exact names and if i did i couldn't post them anyways because that wouldn't be appropriate. Why they are cheating is also a question I can't answer? Who really knows why except for the actual cheater. How will you know if they are cheating, 1. Any plagurized material that isn't properly marked with a link to visit actual location of article etc is cheating. 2. someone that goes to different topics and posts the same discussion (typically using the copy and paste feature) that has nothing to do with the topics is considered cheating. 3. people who go to one discussion topic say "Johnny Depp" for example and responds to every single discussion there with the same response (something that is obviously copy and pasted) that is also cheating.

It does seem to pop up every so often, & it does pique my curiosity. I have seen various tpes of complaints. Not only about other MyLotters, but about the way things are run. There have been many discussions that are guideline-complaint that had been deleted, probably either because maybe a complaint was received & some moderator deleted the discussion without truly checking, or MyLot chose a saboteur as a moderator. When I do look & see violations, I do report them. Sometimes, action is taken relatively quickly, & other times, within a day, & occasionally, nothing was done.

hi mahmah.. Yes many mylotters complaint about someone or something in connection with mylot and i agree, there are a lot of posts all about complaints. maybe these people who complain just want to voice out what they feel, nothing's wrong about it. But excessive complaining. i mean complaining just about anything... i don't think it's a pleasant idea. Instead of posting another complaint, mylotters can just make a negative rating of a person or bring the attention directly to mylot if warranted. by the way mahmah, you are also complaining in your post. Heheheheh.:)

Yes I am complaining but once. I will never mention it again. The kind of people I am talking about are the people that their only discussions they have ever started (we are talking ten plus pages here) are complaints about the cheaters on mylot, or what this one did to that one. And these are grown adults (atleast according to their profile, I know some dont use true age but I do so...) and they are reminding me of high school. Same complaints, same comments, same attitude. Complaining about something once or twice as compared to ten times in one week. Huge difference.

I know what you are thinking... Might be you are quite an elder member... but still, your idea of turning a deaf ear, its really not my cup of tea. Truely there are a lot of myloters who cheat and are complained against. Nothing happens to many of them, but really this doesn't mean that we let the cheating flow. After all why should we. There are people who copy are own work and use them as thjere own earning through that. And moreover you can't say that nothing at all happens, cause the span I have been here I have seen cheaters deleted. The only way to remove such cheater is to keep trying and informing Mylot as well as raiing voice against them. Mylot monitors such cheaters for more offences and if they are found offending more than once, then strict actions are taken against them. So never turn a deaf ear. We may and can make MyLot a beter place to be. Take Care May GOD Bless YOU

I didn't say I turn a deaf ear, what I am trying to say is, is it really necessary for a person to spend their entire time online here at mylot complaining about other members and mylot. What is there really to gain from that. I come here to post on comments, not hunt down the cheaters. If I run into one, I report them, but I don't go around looking for them. I am not an older member. (meaning age or period of time here) I just don't see the point. Yes cheaters are deleted but not because "so and so" posted a discussion written about them and their cheating. They have been deleted because their discussions were reported. That is what I am talking about. If I were to talk about a person that I thought was cheating here, they wouldn't be deleted because of it. That is what I am saying. On the other hand, I don't come to mylot to hunt down the cheaters. I am here to have a good time responding to interesting discussions which is hard to do when the first 10 I come across are all complaints about someone or something that has nothing to do with a topic I choose. Personally I think their should be a special section under "things I like to do" titled "complain" and that is where all of these posts should go, not in the middle of money, or a certain movie, or an actor. Thank you for your insight and have a wonderful day. :)mahmah

Thank you so much for pointing this out. I do not think it is productive to constantly complain about something that you have no control over and no power to fix. You can't stop what someone else does, only move on and try to be a better person. So why complain about other mylotters? I know some people have to vent because they are upset, I have done this myself, BUT to constantly do it is very grating! Thanks for posting this.

Thanks for the best response rating. I truly appreciate it. I do understand where you are coming from, and I still see it as I log on today. I try to avoid those posts and move on to more positive ones.

Definitely. Complainers just get me down. And make my day a whole less productive. It's true that there are things in life we have no control of. I always ignore the topics full of complaints, I'd rather go to those which is fun and would add more value to my being. =) Congratulations on your best response. =) Here's a Joke about complainers: Brother John entered the "Monastery of Silence" and the Abbott said, "Brother, this is a silent monastery; you are welcome here as long as you like, but you may not speak until I direct you to do so." Brother John lived in the monastery for five years before the Abbott said to him, "Brother John, you have been here five years now; you may speak two words." Brother John said, "Hard bed." "I'm sorry to hear that," the Abbot said. "We will get you a better bed." After another five years, Brother John was called by the Abbott. "You may say another two words, Brother John." "Cold food," said Brother John, and the Abbott assured him that the food would be better in the future. On his 15th anniversary at the monastery, the Abbott again call Brother John into his office. "Two words you may say today." "I quit," said Brother John. "It is probably best, you've done nothing but complain since you got here." =)

Hello mahmah, Within a month of being here, I came across two complainants. They have all the right reasons to complain about other mylot members, just to make sure that others won't be cheated by the same person. The action being taken and I think they are satisfied with that. As for me,I just read and if I think that I don't prefer some of the discussions here, I just ignore it. There is a good and bad aspect about it which I don't want to elaborate further. I agree with you when you said that we need to report and move on. There is no point to prolong the same complaint. I think we have better topic to discuss rather than to keep complaining about the same topic. But it is still up to mylot admin. If they see it a serious complaint, they should make a right and fast action; to stop the complaint from being discussed more and more. Well, it is my opinion. I don't know about others. But it is true, some people love to complain. I do sometimes, but in my real life here :)
