Why on earth would anyone want to watch a TV special honoring a "man" who murdered his family, the in a cowardly act, killed himself? Chris Benoit deserves no honors, accolades or TV specials. He deserves to be forgotten like the worthless life he led.

I don't understand why he would have done such a thing, people do things for reasons that only they know. I gather there was something wrong, something he could not live with and didn't want anyone else to live with. They honored him as a wrestler, and thats most of it, but not as a killer. It's hard to define why people subject to doing such horrors, but unfortunatly things happen. I don't think he or the family will ever rest in peace.

because I dont think at the time when they did his tribute that they knew he murderd himself and his family but if they did they would of still given him a tribute because he was part of there family and a well respected man in the locker room in the wwe and one of the best wrestlers on the face of the planet so they had to but dont expect him making the hof ever his actions he took has ruined his legacy and all of his hard work through out his carrer.

Yup, it has ruined his legacy... I don't think he did anything very noteworthy, but there he did have a lot of fans. I can't think of anyone I'm a fan of who I would defend if they did this though.

I totally agree with you, I am watching news about the case right now, on CNN, siting here in Arizona. I haven't seen any of the honours yet, and should I encounter one I'm going to change the channel. I agree with you. the jerk needs to be forgotten!

well it's easy: the media know how to create that morbid interest among the audience even when we're talking about such horrible case. People end up wanting more and more...so the more flesh and gore the media provides, the hungrier the audience gets...sad but true.

I don't think there's any other way to chalk this one up, he was not in his right mind due to abuse of steroids. That's the very first thing that popped into my head as soon as I heard about the deaths. I'm not saying it's an excuse by any means, no one forced him to take them and they all know the consequences. Unfortunately people tend to think "it will never happen to me" no matter how many times they've seen it happen to others. It's just sad and pathetic. But in my opinion negating everything he was by calling his life worthless before this sickness made him snap is not quite fair either. A sickness is a sickness whether self induced or biological. I had a very good childhood friend who I cared about dearly. He was perfectly normal, average, loving and caring individual. In his late teens he developed hereditary schizophrenia and within a few months became a violent, paranoid, hateful person who ended up in prison for trying to kill a girl during an armed robbery. This was not the same guy I had known since we were little kids. I hated what this sickness did to him and made him do to others but it did not negate the loving friend I grew up with.

Snap? It wasn't an act done in a rage! He sat and watched TV with his son before killing him, but after killing his wife. A pretty selective and calm rage if you ask me! Yeah, I have a friend to, in fact, he is my oldest friend. I don't remember a time when we weren't friends. A few years after high school, he was convicted of molesting teenage boys. Yes, he is still my friend, and I have done a lot to help him since then. However, he did what he did and deserved to be punished for it. If he does it again, I will love him til the day he is deservedly executed for his crimes. No matter what else he accomplishes in his life, he will never make up for what he's done... niether your friend, my friend, or Benoit.

He murdered his family, we should blame him for that.

BTW, if I murder someone, you hereby have my permission to blame me, and consider anything else I did in my life a waste... because it would be.

I think that the WWE is honoring him because he is a great wrestler not because he killed his wife, son and then eventually himself. I'm not saying that he was a good man. I can't say that knowing two innocent lives have been lost. I'm just saying that the WWE can't just go on like nothing happened, business as usual. Chris Benoit is a big part of the industry and if they just ignored that, wouldn't his fans be angry?

I think it is because he also contributed good in the wrestling world, though maybe not in real life. As I've seen on the statement made by WWE, they said that his a good man, a good friend to which inspired most of those up-coming wrestlers fulfill their dreams. A man of few words, with a good reputation "inside the ring." I guess he deserves that honor, despite the problems he got/had in his personal life.

Aren't they looking at steroids...calling it 'roid rage? It seems that he has had problems in the past with violence...but then let's look at his chosen profession. Violence is his job, that is his mentality...what else can we expect?

I don't follow wrestling so I am not an expert, but I heard something about one of Benoits pay per view specials were cancelled because he was experiencing "personal issues" over the weekend? Did anyone bother to go find out what these personal issues were? I agree, it's ridiculous that a man who could have quite possibly been experiencing "roid rage" and murdered his whole family would be honored in such a way. But I think it also goes to prove that the WWE would rather take the opportunity to "cash in" on one of its wrestlers than wait to find out what the facts are. What type of message do you think this sends the impressionable kids who idolize this crap?

In fairness, the "roid rage" thing is premature hype by the press. There is really no evidence supporting it yet... I say yet because it very well could end up true.

How does his last action determine everything he has done before that? You are a big talker, but you don't back-up anything you are saying. The honors were for his in-ring work. We know the professional we don't know the man, therefore, to answer your question, not only will I watch a tribute I will make one. Besides, we all have buttons and who is to say she didn't abuse him and undermine his love for his family to the point where stress, and his meds took over?

yup, and Adolf Hitler gave us Freeways, Compact Cars, and if it wasn't for that "Abschließende Lösung" unpleasantness, he would have been the FDR of Germany. Yes, one set of cold blooded murders erases a lifetime of good deeds.

Read Mein Kampf sometime La_Bella. Hitler didn't go "overboard", he planned everything he did to a tee before 1925. He wasn't a great man who just went crazy with power. I used Hitler's name in sarcasm... which is the only way his name should be used.

First of all how dare you insult the legacy of Benoit? Guilty or not, his wrestling was impeccable. Second, para dude you insult Hitler too? He gave much and so he went overboard. You seem like an American Nazi based on your avatar and age. you probably support current Tyrant Bush yes? I bet he'd be worse than Hitler if he had the opportunity.

I think that they shouldn't make him out to be some sort of hero. I think they should delve into mental illness as obviously this guy was suffering from some kind of mental illness.

i dont think onewrong action defines a man. chris benoit did a horrible thing, a seemingly unforgivable thing but we really do not have all the facts yet. news resports are saying that investigators are looking at possible steroid use that could have led to paranoia and outbursts of anger, and its possible that this is what happened to him. his mind may have gotten so unhinged that he was not able to comprehend what he was doing. it would help if we knew all the facts, so that at least some sense will come out of this. i'm sure a lot of people are sad.

Well I don't think it is right for us to pass judgement on him without knowing what truely happened. From the type of person people say was this doesn't seem like something he would have done. It isn't that hard to kill somoene and make it look like they did it themselves. Maybe he did it maybe he didn't. We don't know the situation to sit and judge him. I didn't really watch him as a preformer much but for those who did this is their way of saying goodbye to him. Good, bad or indifferent, people are trying to make peace with what has happened.

He didn't seem like he would do something like this... and yet, he did. I never said that no one should mourn him, I said he shouldn't be honored. You have your opinion and I have mine. ;~D

At the time,I don't think they were aware that he had murdered them. When it finally came out, WWE changed their website so it no longer "honors" him.

I think had they known all the details of what happened, they would not have had a show honoring Benoit. But since all the facts were not in they did the show since he had a lot of fans and friends in the WWE and all over. It was very upsetting about what happened and everyone will wonder why he would do such a thing or everything that actually happened during that period of time. He definitely does not deserve to be honored in any way. I think even Vince McMahon is trying to put Benoit out of his mind because of what he did.

you're right. He doesn't serve a darned thing. I can't believe they are actually gonna honor him.Well, you got to expect that from wrestling bigwigs. They have no integrity or morals anyway.
