I just read in a magazine (and wouldn't you know I can't find the article now to quote it correctly) something about making sure you don't go to bed with an empty stomach because it does make it harder to fall asleep and stay asleep. I cannot remember the reason why. I can't fall asleep when I'm hungry. I usually get up and eat something small with protein or fiber in it, just to soothe my stomach. Then I can fall asleep faster. My husband says that if he goes to sleep when he's hungry he wakes up feeling full. Weird?? I'm not sure what that's about.

Isn't that funny? I had a good laugh at his expense when he told me that. :o) BTW, he does skip breakfast almost every day. Maybe that's the secret to a slimmer new me, LMAO!!

i can sleep relatively ok on an empty stomach. I've trained myself not to eat at night because i'm watching my weight.

wow, that's amazing! my friends usually abide by the "none-after-six (pm)" diet, but this is the first time i've heard about a 3 pm cut-off. :) congrats to your gramps. it must have been tough. :)

I like to have a small bowl of cereal before I sleep. Eight hours is a long time to go without food.

If I am hungry, I can't sleep. Plus I am diabetic so if I ignore that empty stomach feeling, I will start to feel really sick. So now I use glucerna drinks for diabetics and they really help me out.

Like you, I like to have a light snack before I lay down to sleep. Seems like if I don't have a light snack, my belly rumbles and churns and even sometimes burns! If I get to sleep, I awaken several hours later with a burning and churning stomach! Man say that to eat at bedtime will cause weight gain. According to Weight Watchers, it doesn't matter if one eats at bedtime, it is the total clories eaten per day versus those burned per day that causes weight loss or gain.

i find sometimes when i cant sleep i go to the kitchen and get something to eat. it helps calm me down and then i can get to sleep better. being really hungry keeps me up but then its the opposite in the day if i eat too much i get tired and feel like sleeping

Yes, without dinner. I like it but not everyday. I'm gonna die early then.

I just can't! But only if I'm really hungry. If I had dinners a couple of hours before, it's fine.
Just be careful, it's not good for health to eat too much before going to sleep. At this time your body wants to slow down and that goes to digestion.
