during your friends birthday or during your relatives birthday or any ones birthday,is it customary or necessary to give a gift to them...??? and why...??what sort of gift you would give to that person..???Do you give your gifts in cash or purchase something and give to them...??? and why..???Do you think nowadays gifts have become a fashion...???Before in late 60's have you noticed in an invitation you find "Presents in Blessings only"... Now we can hardly find that.. why this change...???If you donot give gifts, does that mean something..???well,i do give gifts as a formailty and mostly i give them in cash only since the recepient can spend the money in his/her own way..
Do you think it is necessary to give a gift nowadays during auspicious occassions...????I think it has become a necessity.... How about you..???

I do give gifts, sometimes. The decision is driven by a few factors.
One is my own financial state at the time. If I can, I like to give.
Another thing is how close I am to them. Sometimes I think we are just close enough for a card....
I've actually had some tension in one of my frienships because I gave-- this person is not exactly financially solvent and felt guilty that they could not reciprocate, so I have had to temper my own actions there.
