Do You Answer Your Door When Someone knocks Unexpectedly?

I do at answer a knock at my door if I am not expecting someone. I think that it is rude for someone to some to my house if they have not called to see if I am free first. I do not have a peep hole and do I will not even go to see who it is because if I do they will see me and then I feel as if I am obligated to let them in. What do you do when you get a knock that you are not expecting at your door? Do you answer it? Or do you ignore it?

I keep my oor locke all the time and I don't answer it unless I'm expecting someone. I also think it is rude to just show up without calling first. People end up thinking I'm being rude because I never let them in but my opinion is that if they have a problem with me not letting them in then they should take the hint and call me first.

I've considered doing the same thing. I think they would still knock though. I've explained my reasoning to my friends and family and they still don't understand.

I keep my door locked at all times too and I have had that same problem, people seeing me and being like, "Yeah I knocked on your door the other day and the I heard music inside but you didn't answer." And I'm just like "Yeah well you should know I don't answer my foor if I am not expecting someone." I have even considered before putting a sign on my front door that says "Did you remember to call first?"

Yes, I answer the door whenever someone knocks. Sometimes I hate doing that especially when I'm asleep and the dog starts barking. But I would think it might be important, so I would get up from bed to open the door. However, I would prefer that people who need to see me call me up first before coming over to my place. I don't have a peephole, like some people do. But I think I'd like to have one too. I would like to have the option to see who's knocking before opening my door to anyone.

I have considered intalling a peep hole. We have friends that have a home security system and they have a small tv in thier kitchen where they can see thier backyard and all tthe doors to thier house. I would really like to have something like that someday.

yes I answer the door if someone comes and knocks, if it is someone I know and I am busy i tell them Im sorry I cant visit right now I am working or whatever. The beauty of haveing great friends is that they can drop by anytime,if griends come and they know you are in there and not answering they will begin to feel unwelcome. so if you dont have a window or a peephole ask who is it and if its not someone you know say im sorry im busy right now and cannot open the door.

You should feel very lucky to have the kinds of friends that will accpet it if you tell them you ae busy. I do not answer my door because I have a neighbor with a bad kid that wants to come in and bring that kid all the time and she will try to pressure you to let her in no matter what you say you are doing and I don't want to have to yell at her so I just avoid her.

I answer the door when ever someone knocks on it because I never know what they might want. It could be someone who needs some help of some kind. It could be a delivery man trying to deliver a package. While I think that it is nice for someone to call before they come over I don't think that it is necessary.

YOu must live in a nice neighborhood. I lived in the ghetto area of the city for the first couple years of my adult life, and I lived there alone with my dog, so that combined with my father having run a home business when I was a child, I never answer a door when I am home alone unless I know my friend is comeing, and when my husband is home I leave it up to him to decided if he feels like answering the door or not. I also don't like to answer the phone if I don't recognize the number calling.

i get unexpected packages regularly so i am glad I have peep holes. I get tired of folks trying to sell me stuff so if it is a solicitor I do ignore it. however if you have a window near the door maybe you should bend back one slat of your blind so you can peek out with out being noticed

Well if I got packages I guess I would answer my door too, but I never get packages, I ususally just get my annoying neighbor or someone else asking for something.

Yeah that wouldbe cool if someone came to the door to give me a prize, I would be mad at myself for not answering if that happened. At this time I do nothae anywhere where I can see who is at my door from without them seeing me so I just try to ignore it when I hear an unexpected knock.
