I have a tip for the best hot chocolate ever. Buy a regular sized 3 Muskateers Candy bar. Freeze it. When it is solidly frozen whack it hard in the wrapper to break on the counter or table into small pieces. One coffee cup of water then add the candy. YUMMY! It's the best Hot Chocolate I've ever had and cheap too. No need for whipped cream as the candy has whipped dairy product in it. My kids loved it. I learned this in jail many many years ago. Back when they gave prisoners kitchen privilages. HAHAHA! No more details there though. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

No thats not all. DUHHHH! Stir it too. HAHAHA. It takes awhile for it to all melt if not broken into small pieces. Melting it in the microwave doesn't do it as it cooks the candy making it too cocoa tasting. And I said no more information on that topic. HAHAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I've never heard of making hot chocolate this way. I did wonder what on earth a 3 musketeers bar was (for those of us outside the US it's a double size Milky Way). My baby daughter loves those things, she's too young for that much sugar etc, but I let her have a little bite! When I was in St lucia in the carribean a few years ago I learned to make 'cocoa tea'. They use solid dried cocoa which you grate into a saucepan of hot milk, adding nutmeg to tase. It's not as sweet as normal hot-choc but lovely nonetheless.

It's nothing like a Milky Way. A 3 Muskateers is choclate outside with whipped chocolate and dairy inside. So it's all chocolate. No caramel or nuts or the like. Nothing along the line of Milky Ways.

Muskateers.. No clue what the uk's version would be (if we have one) but I'm not much of a hot chocolate. On the other hand my brother and wife do so I'll pass it on ;) I'm a milkshake fan :P ~Joey

Ok, now this sounds really really good FOR WINTER but you can be sure the weather these days that 3 Muskateers bar will be gone before completely frozen - I so love chocolate :) Great tip though I will have to try it when it gets cooler.

A cup of hot chocoalte is good prior to bed. Except one made this way has a tad too much sugar and caffiene for soothing one before sleep. Yes a lot of candy bars are laden with cagffiene. HAHAHA! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Oh my goodness Grandpa, this sounds simply divine! I am a chocolate fiend. I would have never thought to do this for a cup of hot chocolate. Funny, some of the best things in life are discovered when someone responds to necessity! Sadly, I bet this version of hot chocolate wouldn't be good for my diet. ...but for an occassional treat...yum!

Oh grandpa Bob. I do no think where I live they sell this type of candy. The world is big. What happens if I do this to a bar of Milkyway or Nuts or Bounty? This is what they sell here. I never put candy bars in a freezer. I have a brandnew fridge freezer though. :-)))))

Ooooohhhh! That sounds heavenly. Heck, I might even try the candy bar thing with my coffee. Mmmmmmm. I am known for adding a packet of hot chocolate to my coffee at times, and I even got the whole office crew doing it at the state park I worked at years ago. The little store couldn't keep enough in stock for us! But adding the candy sounds even better. Thanks for the yummy tip hon.

Funny where you learned such best tasting chocolate. However, muskateers I think is a bit expensive here in my country because its already imported. However, I would still try it. Thanks for the tip Grandpa Bob!

Sounds good. You should write a book called cooking tips from a jail bird. LOL. I will not ask what why you where in there. I am glad you got your act together and are clean and sober and seem to have learned your lesson.

wow - candy bars in prison? it must be some luxury standard one. Btw, this is an old topic, but made me recall paris hilton. she's out now, btw. can't believe it. thanks for the recipe. I don't get that brand over here, but I suppose I could try with a cadbury bar? mars would make it too sweet, what with the caramel. but they actually sell fried mars bars here! I've heard that it's waaaaay too sweet.
