Not sure why my kitchen sink has a funny smell, it just does. How do you get rid of a funny smell in the sink drain?

If it is your garbage disposal it s super easy. Just put a piece of citrus fruit down it. It can be any kind of fruit and even just the peels work like when you have eaten an orange. I have warm lemon water each morning to start my day and put half a lemon (or sometimes a lime) down the disposal every day. I never have stinky drain any more.

I would use either Bleach or white vinegar. This always does the trick if my sink starts smelling. Most the time I use bleach. I try to do this once a week or every couple of days

Do you have a disposal? Then if you have eaten any oranges, instead of putting them in the garbage or in the compost pile, put them in the sink and turn on the disposal unit. That should get rid of the odor. You could also try putting down baking soda and vinegar. If not, something might be stuck in it.

You can either pour some bleach down there or try some drain cleaner. If you have a garbage disposal, throw some lemons slices in there and turn on the disposal (this is a tip I've read in numerous 'home' magazines).

I would try washing some baking soda down the drain followed by some hot water to rinse it all the way through... Hope that helps....

It sounds like it's probably not completely draining out the pipes. Try some liquid drano, or something.

here in Australia we have a product called domestos, I think it is good to put a little of this down the sink every now and then, it just clears things out, if you have it in your country it will get rid of any gunk down there and get rid of the smell....

It's probably some food that got caught down there. If you're on a septic system, I would just pour some vinegar down in there before going to bed and let it dry. If you're not on a septic system, I would use bleach. I've done both, seems to help, at least temporarily.

Pour vinegar down it and let it sit for a few and then pour lemon juice in. Have you tried boiling water? That may kill any bacteria that is lurking there too. What does it smell like?

The drain in my main bathroom smells once in awhile. I read, I think on myLot, to put baking soda, salt and vinegar in the drain. I knew about vinegar and baking soda but not the salt. It has worked. I just don't know why the smell comes back and needs another cleaning. Must be old pipes.

we had this where i used to work we had to dump bleach down it from time to time after we dumped drain cleaner down it. This way if there is any obstruction small or large the drain cleaner removes it then the bleach kills bacteria and anything else that may be down there making it smell. It is probualy cause by food laying in your pipes and getting rotten.
