Doing the household chores a form of exercise?

I do all the household chores, from morning till night. I have no time to exercise. I do the laundry, sweep the floor inside and out the whole house, wash the dishes, scrub the floors and bathrooms and a lot more. Do all these things already keep me fit?

Sure you can say that. Any kind of activity that one does for extended periods which requires physical exertion amounts to general exercising. But to properly exercise, especially if one wants to tone up certain muscles in the body or trim a certain part of the anatomy, suitable specific exercises coupled with proper dieting should be done that is targeted to achieve the desired results.

I believe that they do. Housework can count as exercise.

I would definitly count it in as exersizing, you are physically active, lifting heavy objects, bending over, putting your body into scrubbing floors, etc so I would call it a form of exercise. I can't say it's enough exercise for someone to keep fit on itsself, personally I would try to work out once in a week because it's healthy and can be a lot of fun. There are numerous ways to do this at home in free time during the evening or when the kids are at school.

I have always thought that house work is a great form of exercise. You use so many different muscles doing the cleaning. How could it not be good exercise?

Household work is a good way to exercise and perspire a lot..of course, you must cut down on calories on food to keep you physically fit. Our activities should be balanced by work, exercise (in your case you get two in one) eating the right kinds of foods to stay health...In my case I cut down on rice and red meat...at my age, it's a must. Although we have a household help, I also do my share of the work also as a form of exercise...

Exercise means physical activities or movements mostly to keep the body fit. But I think doing chores all day will keep you fit. I mean you would be constantly moving and I think that will burn some calories so I think doing chores all day everyday will keep you fit. ~

To a certain extent, yes they are. But accordingly, we still lack the proper balance to build up our muscles and exercise everything as we concentrate only on the accomplishment of our chores and not the proper exercise to keep us fit and healthy. It's really difficult for us homemakers still to find time to devote solely for exercise and most of the time, household chores suffice as we even do strenuous activities which is sometimes even bad to our health. Those who are conscious about their body build and have time to concentrate on improving such body built may go to the gym but for us moms, I think we just add some more of the proper exercises and that will do. I have seen people in the provinces who have not gone to any gym and they live long.

As long as you are moving around and working your muscles it is exercise. It doesn't matter how you get the exercise, as long as you are doing it. Of course some housework is better exercise than others, and some works different areas of the body and some are more beneficial than others are.

Yes they do because you've exercised your muscles. They are our routinary exercise. We lose some pounds doing them.

I agree with you.. I dont really like exercising but I do all the housework especially on my day off, almost all day to keep the house clean. I think that is enough, I'll get tired and sweating so I guess all this house work things will keep us fit...

You are absolutely correct. Household work is one of the best forms of exercise. Sweeping the floor with a broom is one of the best exercises for pregnant women. Washing the dishes, cleaning, folding of clothes, wshing, everything is exercise in one form or another.
