Why do cats talk whenever they enter a room?

My cat does this also, it's so cute. She will keep talking until everbody in the room has at least said hi to her. She also does it when I come home, but it sounds more like she is chewing me out saying, how dare you leave me here..it's about time you get home!

Mine does the same thing. And I'm pretty sure it's just a hello. "hey mom, I'm here". I always say hello back and ask them what's up. Perhaps they are trying to tell me what they were doing. "hey mom, I was upstairs taking a nap. Just thought I'd come down and see what you were up to".

Is he one of those cats that demands your attention no matter what you are doing? If he is then he sounds like a diva an he is saying "Hello I'm here pay attention to me" I think it is cute. My cat will meow a very long deep meow when he cant find his sister.
