When I get up, my cat gets up. Why?

My cats follow me around the house, from room to room. And, when I sit down in front of my computer, they'll settle down on the back of my chair or somewhere nearby. But, if I have to get up to go to another room, they'll automatically follow me.
Do all cats do that? Why can't they stay planted in one spot? After all these years, don't they know that I'll be back in a minute or two?

That's too funny! That's usually what my husband does. If I get up for even a minute, he gets online and starts surfing. Maybe the cats picked up their habits from them.

I think they enjoy keeping you company, my cat for instances, when she's really sleepy but I go some other place inthe house, will come after me and find a new (closer) spot to sleep in.

they have to know what you're doing..and you might be getting food.
can't miss that ;)
i have 2 cats that follow me everywhere-the other 3 couldn't be bothered.once they get comfortable,they're not moving.

my cat does it to ... i don't know why exactly but after i feed it in the morning and scrub it and sometime plays with, my cat sat still in front of tv. but my cat does it at night until i go to my room and go to sleep.
i wonder what my cat thought hahahaha
