Do you enjoy the pleasure of being the gatekeeper for the household.... Does everyone have access via their own keys to your home?? How many keys are out there floating around to your home??? If you loose your keys....do you replace the lock?? In our household....there are actually 5 keys to our home out there...I have one...my husband has one...our daughter has one...and both of our grown sons have thier own....everyone in the family has easy access to our home...whether we are here or gone.... Is this the way it works for your home?? Does your neighbor, parents, friends, boyfriend, girlfrriend have a key to let themselves in at their leisure? Please share....

I have a key and my dad has a key.we recently gave a key to my brother in case both get lost.I also gave my brother and extra key to our car. I recently had an incident where i locked the keys in my car and had to call my brother at work. He has to stop buy our house and get an extra key and give it to me at the bank so I could go to my other patient's house. I also have two myself. One on my keyring and one lying on my purse. I got all angles covered!

You certainly do have it all covered, my friend.... My husband and I both carry keys to each other's vehicles for that reason.... Plus, I am the lucky carrier of spare keys for all of the children....LOL

First off I think I need to explain something. Growing up we never locked our doors and windows to our house. Not even when we all went on vacation. So I have to admit that I still have this bad habit. There is almost always someone at my house. My mom lives with me and she doesn't like to leave the house much is why. Anyway there are exactly four keys to my home. My fiancee has one, my mom has one, I have one, and then we keep an extra one in case we need to have someone babysit our dogs while we are away. I don't allow everyone to have access to my house. When my children are older they will receive their own keys of course but for now they are too young.

We seldom lock doors and windows as well....LOL And someone is also almost always here...it is nice to know that when I leave town...one of the kids can get in to check on things or for something they might feel they needed... Thanks for sharing with me, my friend...

I am the only one who has access to our house. Both my girls are still too young to have their own keys. I also have a set of spare keys in the care of my best friend. In case I forgot my keys which thankfully never happened yet, I can easily go to my best friend to get the spare ones.

Although I have yet to lock myself out of the house...knowing that 2 of my grown children live close by ensures that I could gain access easily enough.. Thanks, my friend, for sharing...

Hi Tina!! As far as I know its just my husband and I. I am not sure if our landlord has one since she was living in this apartment before she put it up for rent. I have been living here for almost 10 months and I have yet to meet our landlord as she deals with my husband (in fact he has only met her once too) LOL

Hi Madam! Our home has two ways of enterance and one of which is usually used and other remains locked. Most of the times, it happens, that one or two of family members are present at home and we don't need any lock. Oh yes, if all of us are out for some reason, we put the lock bearing more than one key and this makes us tension free. Surely the keys have already been given to those who need :)

It is also rare that someone is not at my home...but being that worrying mother...I am always afraid that onw of my children will need in and I will be gone...so they all have their own... Thanks, my friend...I appreciate you sharing with me...

Hi friend My house is only accessable to two of us right now as only we two are the great inhabitants here. When some other people come we have to spare one of our keys to them. If I lose any one key yes I replace the key right away for the first priority.

Actually we only have one set in our house, my stupid housemate lost his in a club and I refuse to get them cut for him, I have my own set which I look after, so he has to take the back door key when I'm not in, but little does he know I have stashed a spare set in the garden in case I get locked out! (I may look daft, but I ain't stupid!)

Well I have a set for myself and my husband has a set. And thats it. I keep a key by the back door on my porch that is a seperate door. So just incase we cant get in we use that door. But you would never find it.LOL

Interesting question, because giving out keys is a big deal. There are 4 keys out there to my home- me, my hubby, mu oldest son and one of my friends in the neighborhood each have one. I actually just gave my friend the key-- just last week. I am very private about giving out keys to my house. I do have a key to my parents house and my sister's house, though.

I think that the responsibility of someone else's house keyis a serious thing too ...but the trust that it implies is a nice feeling... Thanks for sharing with me, my friend.....

Yea, each of us staying in the house has our own keys. We only got them when we got old enough though. We believe that by having our own sets of keys, it means responsibility. We take care of our keys and it works well enough for us.

we are three living in the house now and each of us has its own key to get access and entry to the house using the back door. the main gate has just a sliding type of lock which does not require keys anymore. we take the three keys with us anywhere we go as we hold responsible for them for any losses. if there are family members visiting us while we are not around in the house they call us first so we can meet somewhere and hand them the keys and can get inside the house. we do not give duplicate keys even to our other family members because we don't want anyone just get inside the house without our permission.

At the moment there is only one key... which I have. Once the children are old enough I will give them one each. It's a big responsibility having a key.

We have 3 keys for our home and each of us has separate keys. We have key for the gate because we live in a compound apartment, and two keys for our main door. Me, my brother, and my cousin are the only people who have access to our home. We never let anybody access our home without our permission and of course without our keys.

My husband and I each have a set of keys. My mother in law has a set of keys. My best friend has a set of keys. Then my 2 uncles each have a set. My mom may have a set from when my uncle still lived here though. However even though everyone has keys they still give me the respect of knocking before coming in unless they know i'm busy and have told them just come in before hand. My best friend is the only one that has ever barged my door unannounced. (she lives across the street) She hadn't seen or heard from me in 3 days and got worried especially when i wasn't even answering my cell phone. I'm lucky she did storm in on me.. I was sick as a dog and couldn't raise my head. Overall we are very comfortable with who has our keys. Its worse at my uncles house (the one that doesn't own this house). He has what used to be my grandparents house. His 4 siblings have keys, his two boys have keys as do all his nieces and nephews, oh yea and my husband has a key.. we all can go in and out of his house at leisure.
