Why did you name your son/daughter what you did? Was it just a spare of the moment kind of thing or did you really think it over? Was he/she named after a friend/relative? Does he/she have an unusual name? As for myself, I looked in several baby name books and decided to name them by the origin and meaning of the name.

I named my daughter Shannon after a book that I read as a kid. It was a horse book called Shannon by Barbara Berry and I really loved the horse in the book, a beautiful Irish Thoroughbred who was stolen and had many troubles until he got back to his owners.

I love horses and would have named one of my children "Flicka", but decided not to.

Here in our place, names of children were mostly from the combined name of their parents.. Ex. my niece is Madel From Ma-Mario and Del- Adeliada So i guess I would have my baby's name from me and my husband to be.. :)

My oldest son's first name came from my husband waking me up in the middle of the night and saying how about Ryan? I said ok, whatever! His 1st middle name is one that's passed down in my husband's family for generations, his 2nd one, Chance is from my cousin who spent all his time with us. My 2nd son, is Nicholas, Ryan kept pointing at my belly while I was pregnant and saying Snick, we thought he wanted the babies name to be Nick so that's what we named him, right before he was due Ryan picked up a fake snake and said Snick! so he thought the baby in my belly was a snake. His middle name, Andrew was from a little boy that was in my class who was my shadow. Every time Andrew would talk or sit on my lap Nick would kick, he would also do that for the triplets in my class, but they were girls so he got Andrew's name :)

My children were both named after my parents my son after my dad his middle name his first name I thought about for awhile before I had him. My daughter on the other ahnd I had her name picked out by the time I was 10. Her name is Sammantha Marie after my mom, who in turn gives me a hard time for the 2 m's............haha Picking out childrens names come from all over the family, a friend, or even a book, most of us think about it for a while cause most of us do not like the names we were giving and think about how our kids will like their names growing up with it.

That is funny about the two m's. Was that a mistake or was it the spelling that you wanted?

I think it is a very unique spelling of "Samantha". As long as your daughter likes it, thats all that matters.
