Are there any books that you have purchased but not read?

I like to collect books. I have purchased many books (non fiction) that I would like to read some day, but have not read them still after more than 5 years. I still like to look at them and get a good feeling that I have so much reading material.

Yes, I have a ton of books in this house that I still have to read. Some of them I have bought and not read yet, some were given to me, some I got at garage sales or other second hand venues, and some I scooped from my father's house after he passed away. I wonder whether I will ever get around to reading them all.

I like to keep my books. Those I don't like to keep I would rather sell. My kids have been planning a book, baked goods and beverages sale so we can bring in some extra money. Weather plays a factors as to when we can do it.

Don't you panic looking at the tons of books wondering when you will find the time to read them? I sometimes think I should plan when I will read them, if there is no chance of my ever reading them, then I just give them away.

I read my books after purchase. I have a few I got as gifts that I haven't read, but I don't see a point in buying too many books than you can read. The book will still be there later. Save your money and only buy the books you can read. I just bought two books a few days ago. I'm already reading one and then will get on the other. Won't buy any other books until I'm done or nearly done these two.

My mom is the same way. In reality I am too as I love movies and can go in a store and buy 10 DVDs. Obviously I can't watch all 10 right away but I want them. It's an impulse buy. So if books are that way for you I can totally understand.

That is very wise but I don't have the patience to wait till I have read one before buying another. If I see a good book, I just get it and keep it for future reading.

I have heaps of books that I haven't read yet, as I have a nice second hand bookshop that I like to visit when I can. The only problem is, I can't read quick enough to even make a dent in the unread books, lol!

I suppose you are not the only one who find them self short of time, all those who spend time on the net will not be able to give more time to books.

I do have some collected books that are still not being read, but I never did purchased some of them but it was given to me freely from some other sources of books Company and if I do have enough time for it, then i'd love to read them all as I am also fond of reading books.

I can't even count the books I have received, because once people realize you like reading they give you all sorts of books, and because I haven't finished reading the books I bought, I can't even think about reading those that I get.

yes, there are some books that i purchased but did not read.but they are not many, because i learned this lesson years ago.money is always wasted on buying books.this does not mean that i don't like books, but i think you should not only buy without reading.i often borrow books from library.that neednt pay.it is more economical, right? only when i want to reserve one book will i buy,or when they offer a discount.

I do look for discount for other books but for the religious books that I collect, there is usually no discount, but they do not cost that much.

yeah, many. Most of them are computer books that I like to study but have no time. Some are novels and classic books like hunchback of notredame. I also collect books and want to build my own mini-library someday.

I like the idea of a home library, but mine mainly has religious books. I don't keep novels, just read them and pass them on or get them from the library.

Hi dbhattji, I have also collection of religious books but 75% of them I have yet to read. When I fully retired from service, I will start reading them all. After retirement I was to lead a spiritual life ignoring all the material world. Before entering into the spiritual world I want to know what is actually spiritualism is. I try to learn many things on spiritualism but I am not getting good material, even if I get, I do not have time to read. One day when I enter into the world of spiritualism I will feel more happy and have a peace of mind. Thank you, Have a nice day.

Yes most of the books I have collected for future reading are also religious, but I think one should not wait to retire before reading them because they guide us how to live our life, so what is the point of reading a guide after the life is almost over. I take time to read them regularly, but wish I could devout more time.

I went to a book fair once. I saw the books with authors, wose name i've never heard of. So i just picked up some books based on title. One was something like "A winters Tale" (Surely not shakesphere's A midsummer tale). So i started reading it. The book is so insipid that i couldnt continue any further. Its still lying somewhere in my shelf.

That is nice, and a reminder for me too. Rains have just started in my city, and I also like to curl up with a book and coffee. I should make a timetable to read these books.

yes, but don't you like to just see them? Knowing that I have these books stacked up for later reading also makes me happy.
