I was told yesterday that I adapt to change so easily. I laughed because I guess to me that is a normal part of life. I was told that most people do not adapt to change so quickly and easily. So what about you do you handle change well?

It depends on what needs to be changed. If I am asked to change something in me that I have been doing all these years, it takes a lot of adjustments to do. But on the other hand, if I personally understand why the change needs to be done, then I'm quite apt for change. Yeah, most people are not into change. People detest changes. I think it's the fear of 'what will happen' that slows a person's ability to change. Thus, there are those who after a long while still could not adapt to change.

I'm envious that you can adapt to changing situations so easily! I don't deal well with change at all! I like things to stay as they are, and the slightest change with any situation stresses me out so much! Last year I moved away from home, and I know they say that moving out is one of the most stressful times you can go through, but it affected me so badly! I was moody and grumpy and snappy - and often, I would just fly off the handle and have to go for a walk or something (one time I stormed out of the house at 2am and went walking for miles in the rain!) I eventually settled, and it's fine now... The thing is I'm going to be moving again this Sunday, into a big city - and I'm used to life in the country. Lots of people and lots of noise really add to my stress levels, so I dread to think what I'm going to be like! I have no choice but to go there for work, and university - I've always said I'd never move to the city, but here I am! It's going to take months to get used to it, with lots of tears along the way! You are very lucky to be able to accept change, I wish I could be so easy going, but I just get so emotional about evrything! I remember when I was a kid, I got really upset because we changed our car, and another time because my parents were re-decorating... Unfortunately my boyfriend has a love of moving the furniture around... needless to say, this drives me crazy too!

Yes, I handle change very well and can adapt easily. My biggest change period was almost 3 years ago. I got married, moved to a new country, quit my old job, got a new job, got a new house and got pregnant...all in the span of 3 months!!!! Talk about change!! But it all worked out well :) I still go through quite a few changes every now and then. It's partly due to my husband's job as a Marine. He's gone a lot for deployments, training, etc. So, there's always change in our family.

Change is very difficult to deal with. Especially when you are use to the way it was. Even a positive change that is wanted will take some getting use to. I struggle with some changes but everything has to change. We all change and the world changes. So knowing that, I try to just go with the flow.

I do deal with change well, because I'm disabled and I have to deal with change well (my PCA's change, my equipment changes, I move sometimes to get better services and have to leave my friends, family, and community support structures).
